About A Baby Boy: Hugh Grant Is A Dad Again Posted: 16 Feb 2013 12:15 PM PST Hugh Grant is one proud papa — of two. On Saturday, the British actor beat the press and made a special announcement on Twitter on the birth of his second child. "In answer to some journos. Am thrilled my daughter now has a brother," he wrote. "Adore them both to an uncool degree. They have a fab mum . . . And to be crystal clear. I am the Daddy." Grant, 52, became a father for the first time back in September 2011, when Tinglan Hong — 19 years his junior — gave birth to their daughter Tabitha. The announcement was not made until months later by Grant's rep, who left out Hong's name at the time. "He and the mother had a fleeting affair and while this was not planned, Hugh could not be happier or more supportive. He and the mother have discussed everything and are on very friendly terms," the rep said in a statement. Last spring, Grant spoke openly about his daughter during a visit to The Ellen DeGeneres Show. "It’s a very nice surprise . . . everyone was right all these years, saying 'Hugh, why don't you have some children? It changes your life' . . . now that I have one, it is life changing, I recommend it." Are you surprised by Hugh Grant's announcement? Send your congrats in the comments box below! |
Sarah Michelle Gellar Lands Robin Williams’ CBS Pilot (REPORT) Posted: 16 Feb 2013 01:08 PM PST Sarah Michelle Gellar may be TV’s next funny girl. Deadline is reporting that the 35-year-old actress has been hired to play Robin Williams' daughter on a new CBS sitcom pilot produced by David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal). Crazy Ones will tell the story of an advertising agency exec (Williams) and his creative director daughter. Gellar's last show, Ringer, was cancelled in April 2012 after only one season on the CW network. Crazy Ones will mark the Buffy the Vampire Slayer star’s first major gig since giving birth to her second child, Rocky James, last September. Williams, 61, was last seen — heard — in 2011's animated hit Happy Feet Two. The actor has at least three pictures coming out this year, including The Butler, in which he plays Dwight D. Eisenhower, and The Angriest Man in Brooklyn, opposite Mila Kunis. What do you think of SMG’s comic turn? Would you tune in if CBS picks it up? Weigh in below. |

Watch: Chris Brown Wants To Go ‘Home’ Posted: 16 Feb 2013 10:41 AM PST Despite all the headlines Chris Brown has been making these days (with Rihanna, Adele, Drake, to name a few), there's one thing that can't be denied: he's one of the world's most popular artists. During the tail end of 2012, the 23-year-old singer embarked on a world tour for Carpe Diem, an album that hasn't even been released yet. The tour took Brown to places like Copenhagen, Stockholm, Frankfurt, and Dubai. On Friday, Brown released a new music video for his single "Home," the latest off his forthcoming sixth studio album. From private yachts to gold watches, swarms of fans to nightclub outings, Brown shows just about everything in the video. "I am excited to announce the world premiere of #Home, a new docu-video from my world tour! #TeamBreezy, check it out," he wrote on Twitter. Earlier this week, Brown and Adele both cleared the air after a photo snapped of the two during the 55th Grammy Awards made headlines. Originally, fans had concluded that the British singer was giving Brown a hard time. "Chris Brown and I were complimenting each other in that photo actually!" Adele wrote on Twitter. "Pleasure to meet u @OfficialAdele I heard your words and that's all that matters. Thank u for speaking truth. CB," echoed Brown. Be sure to check out Chris Brown's latest music video for "Home." Are you a Chris Brown fan? Are you looking forward to his new album? |
Posted: 16 Feb 2013 09:48 AM PST Jessica Paré loves Megan Draper. Since landing a role on AMC's hit show Mad Men nearly three years ago, the Canadian actress has quickly become the envy of viewers everywhere, thanks to her stylish wardrobe and her intimate scenes with on screen hubby Don Draper, played by Jon Hamm. "How can you not love Megan? I do," Paré says in the March 2013 issue of Elle Canada. "People will react to me as an actor though. Everybody has their opinions — I’m the worst about, like, 'Oh, I don't like that actress' for no reason. So I understand that, but I think the character is fantastic. She's so spontaneous and genuine."
Paré made big headlines in the beginning of season five after delivering a striking and mesmerizing performance of the French classic "Zou Bisou Bisou." Since the episode, the single has dominated music charts across the continent. "I knew the song was catchy when I started working on that episode and everybody in the production office was singing it incessantly, and then I was singing it for about six weeks and then everybody in the cast was singing it for the next two," she tells Elle. "Hats off to [show creator] Matt Weiner for choosing something that would capture people's imaginations in such a great way." The Montreal native, who just turned 30 in December, also dishes about the joys of being in a new age bracket. "Most of my good girlfriends are older, so I had only high hopes about turning 30 — and so far I haven't been disappointed. I feel like I'm more fun," she says. The March 2013 issue of Elle Canada, which featuresJessica Paré on three different covers, is on newsstands now. Mad Men season six will premiere on Apr. 7 on AMC. |

John Moore: ‘A Good Day To Die Hard’ Is A Cure To A ‘Failure Of Manliness In America’ (Q&A) Posted: 15 Feb 2013 05:53 PM PST After four installments, it seems like a new Die Hard could very easily direct itself – at least, if unlike filmmaker John Moore, you think that the films are an assembly line of references from the previous ones, stitched together with a narrative that became boilerplate with the release of the 1988 original. But speaking to A Good Day to Die Hard helmer Moore, whose previous work includes Behind Enemy Lines and Max Payne, he insists that the through line of the series is comprised of two essential things – basically, Bruce Willis and a very specific tone – while the rest is created from scratch. Celebuzz sat down with the director at the film's Los Angeles press day, where Moore not only highlighted what he wanted to keep and discard as he took on his Die Hard installment, but discussed the unusual nexus the film finds itself in – somewhere between self-referential nostalgia and pure, earnest originality, down to its combination of stars old (Willis) and new (Jai Courtney).
Celebuzz: What do you feel like are the essential qualities of a Die Hard movie? John Moore: Well there are some very simple truisms. Heart and soul, beyond cynicism. John McClane is trying to do the right thing for his family. In all honesty, he's not trying to crack all world villainy plots or solve world hunger. He's trying to do the right thing. So they need to have that. But there isn't a mixing bowl — there isn't a "there is that ingredient from Die Hard and that ingredient from Die Hard." The process is more like a story. And Bruce sees the story and sees if he can imagine John McClane in that story. So there is no intermediary stage where it's checked for veracity as a Die Hard. However, as you're going along, you'll know when something is not Die Hard — you know, If it's disingenuous or too self-aware. And that was a major worry of mine on this movie — not to criticize another filmmaker's work, but I was a little shocked and disturbed in Skyfall when they're in the Aston Martin and they made that joke about the ejector seat. Am I the only one that was horrified by that? I might have been! I thought they just sold the family farm for three bucks. I am serious; I was genuinely heartbroken that they did that. And we were super cautious not to be making wisecracks to reference any of the earlier movies. CB: So essentially John McClane himself and a certain tone are the elements that you knew you needed to be faithful to. JM: Yes, so it could grow around it and it could be anything. And to overprocess is a road to failure — that is self-evident in that there only have been five movies in 25 years. There probably has been 100 pitches and 100 scripts, but 95 of them have been made from ingredients [like], "Ohh this is perfect, he's in a tall building, he's doing this, what's not to like?" But of course they were doomed to fail because they had a cynical construct and a pre-awareness. Whereas here is a story where "Hey, what if John's kid is a bad seed? How heartbreaking would that be for John? He's a cop. " His kid is a bad seed. His kid is a, you know, a lost cause — or is he? (4:00) CB: How much, if at all, did you want to make any reference to the structural or the narrative hallmarks of the previous ones? For example, when he's flying to Russia, I wondered if he was going to make fists with his toes on the airplane. JM: The very fact that you're in that furniture means that those land mines are everywhere, some benign, some grotesque, some cute, fuck it, do it. I mean, for example, in the hotel shoot out, it was scripted that he says "shoot the glass." No way on God's green earth was Bruce ever going to let that one happen. But for those of us who adore it, he looks up, and its there if you see it, but he does happen to shoot at the skylights, which happen to be made out of glass, so if you want, there is a lot of loving reference to the mythology of Die Hard. CB: We have entered this era where action movies are so nostalgic, reviving stars like Bruce and Arnold Schwarzenegger. In the original Die Hard there was a very deliberate everyman-ness to John McClane, and then 25 years later you have a guy who falls twenty stories and manages to get up and walk away. How much of that do you have to subscribe to an invulnerability of the iconography of that person as opposed to the immediate humanity of the character? JM: Nostalgia has more durability than an immediate credibility of the action. Ronald Reagan couldn't string a sentence together in his second term, but there was such a profound desire to believe in the man that the idea of Ronald Reagan persevered beyond that. And there is a love and belief that wills John McClane beyond what is physically possible, because the imperative is he jumps out the window [and then] he has to get up — if he doesn't get up, he's defeated. There is no other way. And so, yes of course there is a balance where you're going to turn people off and they're going to be like "Ok, you've even tested my loyalty, you've tested my love" and you'll be hated for it. But maybe even more than the genre, maybe it's the men themselves. I think that there is a curious failure of manliness in America, a curious failure of manhood and strength, and honor and prowess. No offense to the Hemsworths and whatever — but maybe plenty offense to them. I had to go to fucking Australia and find Jai Courtney [to find an actor] big enough, present enough to be the son of John McClane. So I think there almost is an angry nostalgia — a God damn it, give me the fucking hamburger, I am sick of this fucking soy thing. I am sick of the Facebook of it all. The word tweet is not manly, I am sorry. And Thor is looking pretty lame now with his hammer, because we got John McClane — so fuck yeah, he'll jump out the building, and yeah it's silly, but get up. CB: How much does tackling an installment of such an iconic series make you want to continue pushing this franchise forward, as opposed to maybe utilizing the visibility it gives you to create your own series or launch a different project? JM: I am a music fan. I remember when Robert Trujillo got the gig playing bass for Metallica, and he has his own personality and all that, but he was still playing bass for Metallica. By the way, John McTiernan [is up here] and the rest of us [are below him], just so we're clear. But anyone who comes into a Die Hard has to be a pro, and that's what's exciting about getting to do a diehard. If you haven't fucked it up, you get that pro badge. It doesn't mean people are going to fucking take your picture and ask for your autograph, it's not that. But it's like, you know how they say about golfers, "He's a golfer's golfer?" It sort of puts you there, where people are like, "Alright, you can drive for a while." This Week In Hookups, Breakups And Makeups Posted: 16 Feb 2013 05:51 AM PST With Valentine’s Day celebrations in full force this week, love was all around for Hollywood’s hottest couples. Katy Perry and John Mayer hit a high note at the Grammy Awards on Sunday, where they cozied up in their front row seats during the award show. Out of the spotlight, the pair have favored spending quality time together — a bond that has given Mayer a new perspective when it comes to romance. “For the first time in my life, I don’t feel like I’m in a celebrity relationship,” he said during an interview with CBS Sunday Morning. Meanwhile, across the pond, another photo scandal rocked Prince William and Kate Middleton when a tabloid magazine released invasive shots of the expectant royal in a bikini while vacationing in Mustique, a small private island in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. In happier news, legendary comedian Steve Martin revealed he became a first-time father at the age of 67. In December, he and his wife Anne Stringfield welcomed a baby, according to the New York Post. Yearning for more info on the latest celebrity lovelines? Read more on Celebuzz‘s relationship roundup, along with expert commentary from relationship expert Christy Whitman, the New York Times bestselling author of Taming Your Alpha Bitch.
Katy Perry & John Mayer From swanky soirees to coffee runs, it seems as if the singers might have finally found a compatible rhythm in their budding romance. The pair have been inseparable since going public with their relationship in 2012. And after keeping close at the Grammys, Perry and Mayer’s love looks stronger than ever. How has their relationship helped Katy after her divorce from Russell Brand? Whitman’s opinion: It appears that her new relationship has helped her move past the marriage and divorce. It seems that her relationship with John has given her more confidence and she seems to be very happy. I think it is giving her hope for a better future, whereas going through a divorce it is difficult to imagine a bright future. This relationship seems to make her happy. Is John the real deal, or just a playboy? Some men appear to be playboys until they find the right partner. Many men don’t want to settle down or stay with one woman, because they know that there is not a future with the person they are with. So they move from one woman to another. This is how we get clear on the type of person we want to be with. That is what dating is all about. At least for now, John seems to be very happy with Katy and is the real deal. Considering his dating record, what steps does John need to take to prove he’s a dedicated boyfriend? I believe he needs to continue to focus on his relationship with Katy. He needs to continue to stay grounded to himself and she to herself. Relationships are never easy no matter who you are, but even though there was relationship trouble for both of them in the past it does not mean that they can’t find true love, connection and happiness. John has nothing to prove, he just needs to stay true to himself and the relationship. Steve Martin & Anne Stringfield The funnyman joins an A-list group of Hollywood dads who’ve had kids well past their prime. In December, the famed funnyman and his wife welcomed a baby. The couple “has been very private” since the arrival of their bundle of joy. What are the pros and cons of becoming a first-time dad later in life? Whitman’s opinion: The pros are that later in life you are more settled in your finances and your career. There is a more secure environment and less stress due to the feeling of security. You also know the type of partner you want to be with. Typically later in life marriages last longer because of this clarity. There is more patience for certain things such as going at the pace of the child. Later in life you tend to appreciate the small moments that most people miss when they are younger. There is more awareness of being in the present moment. Cons: You don’t have as much energy later in life as you did as a younger dad. There is always a generation gap between parents and children, but the gap is wider when there is more years between the parent and child. If both the parent and the child can be open and allowing of each other that helps in this generation gap. If the communication is not strong and healthy the age difference can put a wedge between the parent/child relationship. Prince William & Kate Middleton In yet another royal family controversy, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are keeping a united front after Star Magazine released photos of the pair enjoying a romantic holiday together in a private island in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Controversies swirled as the publication’s cover featured Middleton in a blue bikini with the headline: “Kate Shows Off Baby Bump.” Will the spotlight wear on Kate and affect the couple’s marriage? Whitman’s opinion: I think with any celebrity in the public eye that has the paparazzi taking pictures or chasing them, it does affect them. As poised and centered as Kate is, she is still human and it is most likely affecting her. This can affect the couple's marriage, but it does not have to in a negative way. Any situation that they face in their very public marriage can actually bring them closer together. They both understand what the other is going through and this can help them deeply relate to one another. They need to be careful not to take this out on one another, but to talk about their anger, frustrations and support one another. What can they do to keep their privacy once their first child arrives? Whitman’s opinion: Other than staying home and never bringing the child out in public, give opportunities to have the media take pictures under a controlled environment that they agree to. Because of the nature of who they are, they will always need to be aware of the fact that they do not have privacy anymore, especially when they are outside. They have to prepare themselves to be photographed and make peace with that, or it will continue to anger them. They really have to accept the fact that they are super celebrities and that the paparazzi will do whatever they can to get their photos. They can’t fight it, but can accept it and take steps to protect themselves. For more on Christy Whitman, visit her website. Then tell us: which celebrity couple caught your attention this week? Is Leonardo DiCaprio Imitating Jack Nicholson? Posted: 16 Feb 2013 10:51 AM PST They say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. And based on that old saying, Leonardo DiCaprio is giving Jack Nicholson the compliment of a lifetime. Both actors share a love of stunning females, for one — and between the two of them, they’ve dated some of the world’s hottest bachelorettes. But their similarities don’t end there.
Besides wild yacht parties and an affinity for cigars, Titanic heartthrob DiCaprio has love for the Los Angeles Lakers — just like 75-year-old Nicholson. Both are courtside staples at the basketball team’s hometown games.
One thing the two don’t have in common: their workload. DiCaprio just announced that he would be taking a break from filming to focus on other projects. "I am a bit drained. I'm now going to take a long, long break. I've done three films in two years and I'm just worn out," he told Germany's Daily Bild, according to ABS-CBNnews.com.
