Move Over, Giggy! There’s a New Pup in Town (PHOTOS) Posted: 01 Feb 2013 01:42 PM PST There’s a pint-sized pooch bringing some much-needed bowwow to daytime television. Meet Nico, the prized Chi-Poo, a Chihuahua-Poodle blend, of Anderson Cooper‘s CBS talker, Anderson Live. Since shortly after the CNN anchorman started his first-ever foray into daytime television, the show’s executive producer, Terence Noonan, has been bringing along his trusty canine sidekick a few times a week. And in no time, Nico took to the spotlight, finding his perfect perch on Noonan’s on-set station. Whether he’s lounging near Noonan’s laptop or snuggling his snout in his owners’ arms, the 3½-year-old mixed-breed shows off his sweet mug several times a week on Anderson Live. “Nico loves being the unofficial mascot and greeter of the show,” Noonan told Celebuzz. “Spending his days greeting the audience and guests, taking naps on producers’ laptops and showing off his latest fashion finds are just some of the ways he passes his time on set.”And he’s even formed an unbreakable bond with Anderson. “Nico frequently attends closed-door briefing meetings, stealing the seat right next to Anderson,” Noonan said. “Nico thinks he is as much a star as Anderson, if not more.” Thanks to his prime position on the talker, there’s no doubt Nico’s star is now on the rise. From studio audience members asking for photo ops to fawning fans sending him mail, the always dapperly dressed dog — who dons cozy sweaters, tuxedo jackets and rain coats — is quickly catching the adoring attention of the public eye. “Fans send Nico everything from doggy treats to new outfits,” Noonan said, adding that they cherish a one follower’s hand-drawn sketch a fan drew of Nico in Italy. Now, even the famous set are hopping aboard the Nico bandwagon, such as former Jersey Shore star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and singer-actress Keke Palmer. “Even What Not to Wear host Stacy London couldn’t get enough of him!” Noonan gushed. To cater to his ever-expanding fan base, the tiny tail-wagger has launched his name into the world of social media, joining both Facebook and Twitter.“The fame of being the unofficial Anderson Live mascot has gone to his head, so he demanded his own Facebook page to shine,” Noonan explained, adding the account racked up “over 300 likes in less than 24 hours.” That puts him right on the heels of another Hollywood pooch: Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Vanderpump‘s Pomeranian, Giggy. “Giggy who?” Noonan joked. “Nico is on a daily nationally-syndicated talk show. He doesn’t just occasionally appear on a weekly soap opera.” Now that Nico has trotted into the spotlight, the pawsibilities are endless. “Nico takes his celebrity status very seriously and doesn’t want to put his name on just any product like some of his celebrity peers,” explains Noonan. “He is currently taking meetings about creating his own clothing and product line. The sky’s the limit for this new star.” |
The Week’s Hottest Hookups, Breakups and Makeups Posted: 01 Feb 2013 01:36 PM PST What do Rihanna, Alec Baldwin, and One Direction‘s Zayn Malik all have in common? Besides being rich and famous, these stars and their significant others have been the subject of major headlines this week. With RiRi’s shocking (or not-so-shocking) Rolling Stone revelations, Alec’s reported second bundle of joy and Zayn’s dating drama, the spotlight shined bright on Hollywood’s relationships. If you’ve been out of the love loop, don’t fret: Celebuzz‘s roundup of the noteworthy relationship stories this week features all the details you need to know, along with expert commentary from Damona Hoffman, author of Spin Your Web: How to Brand Yourself for Successful Online Dating. From reconciliations, cheating rumors and rumored pregnancies — here’s the weekly report from the celebrity lovelines.
Rihanna & Chris Brown In the latest issue of Rolling Stone, the “Diamonds” singer dished on her controversial reunion with her on-again, off-again beau, dismissing the public’s scrutiny and backlash. "I wasn't going to let anybody's opinion get in the way of that," she said nearly four years after their violent dispute at a 2009 pre-Grammy soiree. "Even if it's a mistake, it's my mistake. After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I'd rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it.” So why does RiRi keep giving Brown a second chance? According to Hoffman, — whose company www.DearMrsD.com just partnered with Match.com to teach its users her online dating secrets — first love can be often hard to forget. Hoffman’s opinion: 1. Nothing better has come along. Her career has skyrocketed since the news of that fateful night went public, keeping her on the road consistently since the fight went down. When you're constantly hopping from city to city, it is impossible to form a real bond with someone new. So what happens when you're single and lonely? You start to reminisce about the good ol' times, and you forget about the bad days and the reason you split up in the first place. Her recent dinner with Matt Kemp most likely helped her realize that the feelings for him just weren't there, making her run back to the arms of the familiar with Chris. 2. Relationships can often be ruled by a struggle for power. Not only did Chris physically dominate Rihanna that night in February 2009, making her appear weak and foolish for being with a man who would abuse her, but the backlash that they both faced forced her to end the romance without having the opportunity to get closure. When a relationship ends under circumstances that are outside of our control, we are left with an unmet desire to replay the situation and find a way to gain the upper hand. Once she has the last laugh, she'll tire of his shenanigans. Alec Baldwin & Hilaria Thomas After tying the knot last year, the former 30 Rock star, 54, and his wife — who is 26 years his junior — are reportedly expecting their first child together. Baldwin, 54, has remained mum on the rumors, letting the couple’s rep speak on their behalf. “Our response to baby speculation over the past 18 months has remained the same,” the statement said. “When/if Alec and Hilaria have news they want to share, they will share it. Until then, no comment.” If the good news rings true, Baldwin will experience fatherhood for a second time around. He and ex Kim Basinger are parents to daughter Ireland, 17. Hoffman’s opinion: Alec has been given a chance to redeem his parenting skills and aggressive bad boy behavior. What's more shocking about the infamous 2007 call to his now 17-year-old daughter, Ireland, in which he called her a "rude, thoughtless, little pig" is that Ireland wasn't all that offended. She admitted this fall that her father often speaks like that "because he's frustrated." Since marrying Hilaria, a yoga instructor, in June, Alec has managed to keep himself out of trouble. We might just have a new zen father on our hands…that is, until the paparazzi try to snap photos of the babe and he goes all warrior pose on them. Zayn Malik & Perrie Edwards The 1D singer ignited teenybopper hysteria after he allegedly bedded an Australian waitress behind his girlfriend’s — Little Mix songstress Perrie Edwards — back. Malik and Edwards started dating officially last year, but are now facing a celebrity couple’s worst nightmare. The waitress, Courtney Webb, released photos of Malik after their heated tryst, claiming the boy bander had dismissed his relationship with Edwards. Days after the scandal broke, Malik was spotted nursing an injured hand. Hoffman’s opinion: Boy band members who hook up with other singers have an abysmal track record for long-term relationship success. Justin and Britney survived ‘The Mickey Mouse Club’ but once they started on the path of world domination, they just couldn't get ‘N'SYNC. Nick and Jessica had three great seasons of ‘Newlyweds,’ but after Jess put out and lost her V-card, their fiery passion was extinguished too. Joe Jonas couldn't make it work with Demi Lovato or Taylor Swift. If Zayn follows the pattern, by the end of the eight-month tour, he and Perrie will already be on to their next ex. Do you think Zayn and Perrie should stay together? What about RiRi and Chris? Sound off in the comments about your favorite relationship stories from this week. |
Which A-List Director Is Donning a ‘Suit & Tie’ For Justin Timberlake? Posted: 01 Feb 2013 12:57 PM PST For his first album in seven years, Justin Timberlake is going big. The singer-actor has already roped in Jay-Z to lend his talents on this spring’s The 20/20 Experience, and now he’s enlisted an Oscar-nominated director to come aboard. David Fincher will helm the video for “Suit & Tie”, Experience‘s first single, The Playlist reported on Friday.
“Suit & Tie” re-teams Timberlake with the A-List director; the two previously collaborated on 2010′s Facebook drama, The Social Network. Production reportedly began on the video last week, which will give audiences their first taste of Jay-Z and Timberlake’s collaboration. Fincher is no stranger to music videos; he got his start lensing spots for such singers as Madonna and Michael Jackson. ”Suit & Tie” marks Fincher’s first music video since “Obey” for Nine Inch Nails seven years ago. The 20/20 Experience drops March 19, with the video expected to premiere prior to release. Excited for Timberlake and Fincher re-teaming? Watch Celebuzz’ discussion about the Grammy prospects for Timberlake’s upcoming album, and then drop your two cents in the comments below. |
Amanda Bynes: I Was Not Evicted (EXCLUSIVE) Posted: 01 Feb 2013 01:25 PM PST Amanda Bynes isn’t going anywhere — or so she says. Despite a report claiming that she moved out of her New York City apartment after being threatened with eviction, the 26-year-old actress is insisting that she hasn’t left her upmarket dwelling. In a text message to Celebuzz, Bynes attempted to debunk the story, writing: “I’m not moving. I don’t have a landlord! I don’t rent! I own a condo in NY.”
But according to TMZ, “Bynes got a letter from building management earlier this month explaining that her lease would be terminated, because she’s a building nuisance.” The site’s sources also claimed that her apartment reeked of marijuana “morning, noon and night” and she was seen smoking in the hallway of her strictly non-smoking building. Like she has before, the oft-troubled ex-Nickelodeon star is now threatening to sue. “I’ll sue them again if they don’t retract the story,” she also wrote, noting that she is in dispute with the site about another report it previously published. This seems to be a page from Bynes’ playbook: In November, she told Celebuzz that she would sue In Touch magazine after they published a story claiming the actress exposed herself in a New York City tanning salon. It’s not known if she ever took legal action. Bynes also previously said that all recent allegations made against the actress' erratic behavior were "all lies." So we have got to ask, who do you believe? The media, or Bynes? |
Penelope Cruz Has Another Bardem Bun in the Oven (REPORT) Posted: 01 Feb 2013 01:25 PM PST Another bebé on the way! Penelope Cruz and husband Javier Bardem are set to become parents a second time over, according to Us Weekly. Their reps have yet to return a request for comment. Hollywood’s hottest Spanish power couple welcomed the first child, son Leonardo Encinas Bardem, in January 2011, some six months after they tied the knot in a private ceremony at a friend’s home in the Bahamas. Shortly after becoming a first-time mother, Cruz broke into tears as she shared how having a child changed her forever.“It is a revolutionary experience. That’s the best way I can describe it,” she told Vogue. “It transforms you completely, in a second. Nature is very wise and gives you nine months to prepare, but in that moment, when you see that face, you are transformed forever.” And despite the couple’s fame, Cruz, 38, and Bardem, 43, are dedicated to keeping their little ones out of the spotlight. ”I want my son — and my kids if I have more — to grow up in a way that is as anonymous as possible,” Cruz said of Leo. “The fact that his father and I have chosen to do the work that we do doesn’t give anybody the right to invade our privacy.”For her second pregnancy, Cruz won’t be going through the ups-and-downs of the trimesters alone — her singer-actress sister, Monica Cruz Sánchez, 35, will be sharing in the pregnancy woes. Sánchez announced in January that she is expecting her first child via an anonymous sperm donor later this year. |
Jared Leto Flaunts His Wild Side (PHOTOS) Posted: 01 Feb 2013 12:15 PM PST Has Jared Leto traded in his acting and singing chops for a gig as an elephant whisperer? Judging from his latest photo shoot, the movie star and musician does have a flair for being one with the giant mammals. The photos, taken by famed shutterbug Warwick Saint on home soil in South Africa, were for a spread in Flaunt magazine. "Me + the elephant, by Warwick Saint," Leto, 41, wrote on Twitter earlier this week, along with a link to the photos on his website.
According to Saint's Facebook page, the photographer and his subject took a detour during their trip to bungee jump off the famous Bloukrans Bridge in the province of Western Cape. "About to do the highest bungee jump in the world! Bloukrans 215 meters 710 feet," Saint wrote as the caption for one pre-jump photo. What do you think of Jared Leto's latest photo shoot? Weekend Movie Preview — Five Flicks in Five Clicks (PHOTOS) Posted: 01 Feb 2013 11:47 AM PST Three big genre releases hit theaters this weekend, including two horror films and one action-packed throwback to the ass-kicking films of the 1980's. Going up against last week's box-office winner, Hansel and Gretel, we've got the ghosts of Georgia, an emo zombie on a journal of self-discovery and Sly Stallone as an aging, axe-wielding hitman. All films we'd pay to see, by the way. Horror has shown a remarkable performance this month considering the high grosses for Hansel and Gretel, Mama and Texas Chainsaw 3D. With two more sizable scarefests dropping this weekend, we're willing to bet that the genre will remain on top for at least another week. But which releases are worth your hard-earned twelve bucks this weekend? We're here to let you know…

Time to Play! Bikini Clad Alessandra Ambrosio Splashes in St. Barts (PHOTOS) Posted: 01 Feb 2013 11:05 AM PST Maybe Alessandra Ambrosio should stick to her day job. On Thursday, the Victoria's Secret Angel was spotted in more than 10 different bikinis as she took on yet another photo shoot in St. Barts. In between polka dots, colorful leopard prints and those signature poses, Ambrosio spiced things up by playing pranks on select crewmembers — only to be on the receiving end of a dunk in the pristine water. She later got some revenge on a male assistant, with some help from a bucket of H2O. "Getting a #tan #stbarth #paradise #summertime," the 31-year-old wrote on Twitter, along with a snapshot of her beachside view.
Just the day before, the mother-of-two spent her day off solo, relaxing in a colorful bikini and taking self-portraits for her Instagram album. Check out the gallery, above, for snapshots from Alessandra Ambrosio's prank-filled Victoria's Secret photo shoot. |
Khloe Kardashian Doesn’t Need a Stylist to Appear on ‘Watch What Happens Live’ (PHOTOS) Posted: 01 Feb 2013 11:36 AM PST Khloe Kardashian knows how to dress to impress while still covering her least favorite body part. Kardashian recently told Cosmopolitan magazine, "We’re all our own worst critics and so hard on ourselves, but for me, my biggest insecurity is my arms. I just hate the tops of them. I workout and they still never look good enough for me. So, over the years I’ve learned to dress to make myself feel better." And that she did indeed, as she prepped for her appearance on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live on Thursday. The 28-year-old wife of basketballer Lamar Odom donned a long-sleeved, figure-hugging LBD, accompanied by sexy thigh-high python boots and fur-trimmed Louis Vuitton bag (that she borrowed yet again from her sister Kim).Aside from wearing the slimming shade of black, Kardashian explained that it takes time to learn how to flatter your figure.
"It’s not like I’m eating donut after donut—I exercise and try to eat right, but dressing for my body type is key. I used to follow trends and try to do exactly what I saw in the magazines, but I’m not a Victoria’s Secret model who can wear anything. [That said,] dressing for your body type comes with trial and error, but I know how to do it now." Following the release of her Cosmo interview, Kardashian tweeted, ”Its not how many times you fall. Its how many times you get back up that matters.” Well, she definitely won over Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen with her optimistic attitude, because the TV personality later joked:

Posted: 01 Feb 2013 09:49 AM PST Down and dirty. Justin Bieber spent a day off from his grueling Believe tour to ride four-wheelers with pal Lil Twist. The heartthrob crooner posted a few pics on his Instagram and captioned the snaps, “Me and Twizzy getting a little muddy.” Biebs later wrote on his Instagram, “fun day” and “ridin dirtyyyyyyyyy.” Bieber deserves a stress-free day to enjoy the spoils of all his hard work. Just this week, the singer released his all-acoustic album called Believe. The singer’s third album is already breaking world records and flying off shelves. In true Bieber form, he reached out to his fans on Twitter on Jan. 29 to make sure they knew how thankful he was for their support.“To everyone around the world. Thanks for believing. I am grateful.” Have you listened to Biebs’ new album yet? What did you think? |
Scared Silly: What Are the Best Horror-Comedies Ever Made? (PHOTOS) Posted: 31 Jan 2013 03:05 PM PST Nicholas Hoult and Teresa Palmer‘s Warm Bodies arrives in theaters this weekend, and while it hopes to harness a particular niche en route to box office glory — the Twilight audience — it has a greater, and decidedly more inconsistent legacy to live up to: the horror comedy. In Warm Bodies, Palmer plays a distressed but tough young woman taken hostage by a zombie named R, played by Hoult, who takes a romantic liking to her after devouring her dearly departed boyfriend’s brains. Their relationship plays out against the simultaneous backdrop of a zombie holocaust and R’s self-deprecating inner monologue, which endlessly struggles to find hilarious ways to relate to his victim. To commemorate the movie’s release, Celebuzz assembled a list of the movies’ all-time best horror comedies, in case you’re interested in checking out a few more after finishing up this new theatrical adventure.
Click here to launch Celebuzz’ gallery of the greatest horror-comedies ever made Senior Film Editor Todd Gilchrist actually chose one of the films on our list, Evil Dead II, as his favorite horror film of all time, thanks to its expert combinations of true-blue scares and Three Stooges-style goofs. The Gavel Won’t Be Brought Down on Royal Hoax DJs Posted: 01 Feb 2013 09:38 AM PST Some things are simply out of reach of the long arm of the law. The embattled Australian radio hosts who pranked the hospital treating pregnant Kate Middleton just days before the nurse who answered the hoax call, Jacintha Saldanha, committed suicide will not face criminal charges, Britain’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) officials announced on Friday. “Having carefully reviewed the evidence currently available we have concluded that there is no evidence to support a charge of manslaughter,” said Malcolm McHaffie, Deputy Head of Special Crime at CPS, according to The Guardian. “Although there is some evidence to warrant further investigation of [other] offenses, no further investigation is required because any potential prosecution would not be in the public interest.” For over a month, British prosecutors have been deciding whether to bring charges against 2Day FM radio hosts Michael Christian and Mel Greig in connection the suicide of Jacintha Saldanha, 46, one of the nurses on hand at King Edward VII Hospital while Prince William‘s expectant wife was was being treated for acute morning sickness in early December. Saldanha transferred the call from the DJs pretending to be Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles to the ward where the Duchess of Cambridge was receiving treatment. Another nurse gave them details of her condition. Just three days later, on Dec. 7, Indian-born Saldanha, 46, a mother-of-two, was found hanged in her hospital lodgings in London. In a series of apparent suicide notes, the late nurse reportedly accused Greig and Christian for her taking her own life, according to the U.K.'s Daily Mail. Saldanha also took aim at the senior management at London's King Edward VII hospital for their actions during the aftermath of the hoax, refuting initial statements that the staff had been supportive throughout the controversy. After coming under fire following Saldanha's death, the DJs remain on leave from 2Day FM, where their “Hot 30″ program — on which they hosted the hoax — has been formerly canceled. As they were widely condemned in the weeks following the controversy, Greig and Christian admitted they were "shattered, gutted (and) heartbroken" during a televised interview with the Nine Network in Australia. "There's not a minute that goes by where we don't think about her family and what they must be going through,” Greig said on the program A Current Affair. “The thought we may have played a part in that is gut-wrenching.”

Watch: Catherine Zeta-Jones Says We All Have to Take Responsibility for Violence in the Media Posted: 31 Jan 2013 03:05 PM PST In the new film Side Effects, director Steven Soderbergh tackles a tough question with no easy answer: after a young woman commits murder while on antidepressants, the authorities struggle to determine who's responsible for the crime – the perpetrator, the medicine she took, or the man who prescribed it? But the film echoes another conversation that is currently raging in our culture – how influential is media violence in inspiring the real thing? When asked about this roiling debate, co-star Catherine Zeta-Jones tells Celebuzz that ultimately, the challenge is for all of us as a society to be more careful about the way the media, and other external forces, affect the people who are most susceptible to them – namely, children.
"I think we all have to take a little bit more responsibility of what is put out there," Zeta-Jones says. "And the consequences of what happens if it's perceived wrong or taken for 'complete reality'." That said, the actress suggests that Hollywood has become a convenient scapegoat, even though she insists that it's vital for popular entertainment to explore serious real-life issues. "A lot of people wag their finger at Hollywood because there's no other answers to the question," she says. "[But] I think it's interesting to deal with real subjects, real crises, what happens in our culture today on film. I mean, it's absolutely necessary." What do you think – does violence in the media inspire it in real life? And who should take responsibility for making sure that it does not influence people in the wrong way? Take a look at the trailer for Side Effects below, and let us know your thoughts about this hot-button topic in the comments section. |
We Wouldn’t Exactly Call This ‘Undercover’ (VIDEO) Posted: 01 Feb 2013 01:18 PM PST Even in a direct-to-DVD release, Miley Cyrus knows how to look good. The 20-year-old does exactly that in this just-released clip from So Undercover, in which she plays a detective who, yep, goes undercover at a college campus. Very quickly, it seems, she joins a sorority, where the girls all sit around in their lingerie and talk about their hopes and dreams for the future. Most of the girls want to do normal things, like live in Beverly Hills and meet Chelsea Handler. But for Miley’s character — who never went to college — she just wants the simple things in life, like, you know, handguns. The whole thing sort of sounds like Never Been Kissed, only set in college and without an actual theatrical release. (It will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on Tuesday.) To see more from the clip, watch the video, above. |
‘Nikita’s’ Devon Sawa: ‘Owen’s Kind of a Thug’ Posted: 01 Feb 2013 08:09 AM PST As Owen on The CW's Nikita, Devon Sawa has always been something of mystery. Yet he is one of Nikita's (Maggie Q) most trusted confidantes now that there is a new Division running things and Michael (Shane West) is removing himself from field duty. Owen is stepping in as Nikita's right-hand man on missions, which Sawa said will create a kind of fish-out-of-water experience for his character, as well as some room to play with new dynamics among all of the characters. "We have this one scene in the beginning where we walk into an art gallery, and Owen's all [puffed up], and Michael has to kind of say to him 'Hey man, this is how you have to go in.' Because you know, Michael's the James Bond, and Owen is kind of a thug," Sawa told Celebuzz. "He has to learn to work as a part of the team and how to take orders. Taking orders from Michael is probably the toughest [adjustment], but he'll do it because these are his friends; he and Nikita have such a history, they have each others' backs; and he needs to step up and help here."Sawa admitted that Owen definitely still has some hesitations about working within this system at all, because he is so used to being on his own. In fact, in what Sawa is shooting right now, he shared he is still playing Owen with some hesitations based on what he experiences on these missions. "He's kind of like Nikita's sidekick at first. He goes out into the field with her because Michael can't, and they have history, so they work well together, but he still doesn't love that he has to answer to her. [Then] there comes a mission in a few episodes where he does work with Alex, and it's different because they have to feel each other out a bit more," Sawa said. "There's an episode where I am interrogating Ari, and until then [Owen] had kind of forgotten about the things from Episode 4 with Amanda; they were out of his mind. But Ari brings them all up again, and Owen really goes after him. He gets some answers, but there's a lot Ari still holds back," Sawa revealed. Sawa shared that he is at the point right now where he is waiting to receive an episode that he thinks will provide major insight into Owen but potentially change the way his character is viewed, as well. He has been kept in the dark as much as the audience, though he is confident Nikita's executive producer Craig Silversteinand writing staff has been planning the reveal for awhile. They just don't want Sawa too know too much too soon."You literally just wait to get the script. You have your laptop or your iPad or whatever, and it beeps, and it's usually like one in the morning, and you look, and you know you should be sleeping, but you can't wait to read it," Sawa said "I would rather not know, and I know Craig and the writers want us to not know, because they don't want us to play things certain ways too early or start steering something one way. It helps with the element of surprise if the actors don't know right away." Every season of Nikitadelivers an impressive amount of stunts and a high body count to match, but given how much Owen is being integrated and cemented into a part of the team, as well as the fabric of the series, Sawa has to feel pretty safe, right?"I know there will be blood — on both sides. Craig and the writers wouldn't have it any other ways, so I honestly don't know. But I hope so! I hope to talk to you again next season!" Nikita airs on Fridays at 8PM on The CW. Are you excited to see Owen get more involved with the team? Let us know in the comments below. |

Boob Tube: Jennifer Lawrence Talks About Her ‘Uneven’ Breasts (VIDEO) Posted: 01 Feb 2013 01:25 PM PST Jennifer Lawrence has something to get off her chest. The Silver Linings Playbook star stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live, and after indulging in beer and tequila shots (courtesy of the show’s producer), opened up about her busty discovery. “I just went to the doctor today, I got a chest X-ray of my lungs and discovered that my breasts are uneven,” she told host Jimmy Kimmel. “I was like standing there with these doctors and they’re like looking at my lungs and I just couldn’t—it felt like an elephant in the room—and I was like, ‘Are my breasts uneven?’ And they were just kind of, like, stifled and uncomfortable, obviously. So I kept thinking, ‘Well, I’m gonna dig myself out of this hole by bringing it up again.’” Lawrence — who is up for Best Actress at this year’s Oscars — added, “So he was like, ‘All right, our radiologist will get back to you about your lungs.’ And I was like, ‘And my breasts.’”
Although she brushed off any worries about her revelation, Lawrence hopes no one will ever see her ample assets in an X-ray anytime soon. “I hope I’m never seen in that light,” she joked. With her good humor in tow, Lawrence looks like she’s back in good health after dealing with the flu and walking pneumonia throughout much of the awards season — a plight that slightly ruined her chances in meeting Adele at the Golden Globes.“Adele was in the next table over and I had such a high fever and I felt like I couldn’t move,” she said. “I saw Adele and there was nobody in the way and she was sitting in the table by herself [...] and I just reached my arm out…” Lawrence went onto to hilariously reenact her flubbed attempt at approaching the British songstress, adding, “I couldn’t say anything. Ugh!” After coming victorious at the SAG Awards, Lawrence has one more award show in the horizon: the Academy Awards. Until then, here’s to a few more funny one-liners, Jennifer.Launch the video to watch J-Law’s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! |
‘Bullet to the Head’: Is Sylvester Stallone’s Latest a Bullseye or a Bomb? Posted: 31 Jan 2013 04:21 PM PST Writer/director/professional ass-kicker Sylvester Stallone returns to screens this week in the 1980's action throwback Bullet to the Head. Starring as a New Orleans hitman, Stallone teams with a D.C. detective (played by Sung Kang) to avenge the deaths of their respective partners. If you've seen the trailers, you already know that at some point Stallone fights the massively built Conan (as in, quite literally, the man who most recently played Conan) in some kind of axe battle directed by action veteran Walter Hill. Which is really all we needed to see to know that we'd be putting down on ten bucks. That said, what do the critics think of this one so far? Do they give it a critical pass, or just another bullet to the head?
Scott Tobias, AV Club "Tough guys with a code. Punishing bare-knuckled brawls. Broken glass. Some bluesy licks from Ry Cooder. These are the elements of a Walter Hill action movie, from great early films like The Long Riders and Southern Comfort to his paradigmatic buddy team-up 48 Hrs. to recent effects like the mistreated Undisputed and his new two-fister, Bullet To The Head…The X-factors tend to be the script and the performances, and those elements largely betray him in Bullet To The Head, which is a perfunctory exercise whenever Hill isn't busying himself with gun battles, ax fights, and other mano-a-mano confrontations. He can only do so much." Michael Phillips, The Chicago Tribune"Approach it as a Stallone movie (which it is) or as a Hill movie (which it is), but it’s more interesting as a Hill movie. If it gets this director back into the hard-driving action game, then it will have done its duty…The style here — hairline-to-chin close-ups, nervous, jacked-up editing — isn’t Hill at his best. But the movie has a certain grungy panache." Tom Russo, Boston Globe "The repartee here feels about that old — politically incorrect ethnic digs, whippersnapper needling, clunky stuff that elicits yawns or outright groans. The stock baddies (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and, just passing through, Christian Slater) aren't any better, although there's some action spark between glowering mercenary Jason Momoa (of Conan 2.0 fame) and Stallone. (At last — Rambo versus everyone's favorite barbarian.) But the movie's best moments are when Stallone is serving aces, not trying to keep weak volleys going." Jordan Hoffman, Film.com "There's no question that Eddie Van Halen-esque guitar licks should accompany the sight of Sylvester Stallone delivering justice from the barrel of a gun or directly from his fists, but one must also recognize that this is an aesthetic package with a clear shelf date. Bullet to the Head is the newest film from Walter Hill, whose oeuvre of bare-knuckle cinema peaked around 1986, and it's a spoiled dish that's been laying out collecting flies this entire time. It isn't retro. It isn't cute. It's just an embarrassment." Marshall Fine, Huffington Post"I lost count of the number of noggins that were perforated by hot lead in Bullet to the Head, but it was more than a dozen. Henchman apparently is a particularly dangerous job description, at least in this movie, though they’re not the only ones who wind up with smoking holes in their foreheads. No doubt there will be those who decry this above-average action film for its nearly constant chatter of gunfire and its frequent bursts of red mist, signifying a gunshot striking human flesh. And yet this film, by director Walter Hill, a particularly gritty action veteran, holds your attention without insulting your intelligence — too badly." Do you plan to see this film? Katie Couric Dated Who? (VIDEO) Posted: 01 Feb 2013 07:24 AM PST As America’s sweetheart, Katie Couric fields her fair share of suitors. And in the late 1980s, one of those lucky men to land a date with her was Larry King. Couric, now 56, was 30 when she agreed to dinner with the CNN anchor, who is 23 years her senior, back when both were living in Washington, D.c. “I was going through this period in my life where I was going, ‘I’m going to go out with anyone who asks me because you learn something every time you go out with a new person,’” Couric said on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “So I met Larry at this restaurant in Washington and what can I say, Jimmy, I was wearing a leather skirt. And he called me and he asked me out to dinner and I thought, ‘Well, that will be really interesting.’” Come the evening of their get-together, King picks Couric up in a Lincoln town car, blasting some Jack Jones on the tape deck as he whisks her off to K Street. “It was [an] Italian restaurant where they put you right next to each other like they do with all the men and their ‘nieces,’” Couric said, “We were having a nice enough time.”But after dinner, King wasn’t ready to call it a night, much to Couric’s dismay. “We’re driving home and I see we’re going over [Arlington] Memorial Bridge, and that’s not the way back to my apartment,” Couric recalled. “So I go, ‘Larry, where are we going?’ And he goes, ‘My place.’ And I was like ‘Oh, mother of god.’And I’m like, ‘Dear Cosmo, what do I do?’” The pair arrived at King’s apartment in Rosslyn, Va., which Couric recalled being adorned with accolades. “That was sexy,” she joked. Then King made his move: “So we sat there and, what can I say, he lunged…. I started laughing a little bit ’cause the whole situation was like out of a bad Lifetime movie.” Still, Couric handled the situation with class. “So I said, ‘Larry, you’re such an interesting, nice man. But I would like to meet someone a little closer to my age,’” she said. “And it was like, ‘Wah, wah.’ And he said, ‘That’s OK, because when I like, I really like.’” But King wasn’t even the only famous man who tried to woo Couric. After meeting with Michael Jackson in effort to land a sit-down interview, Couric received a call from Rabbi Shmuel “Shmuley” Boteach, the King of Pop’s onetime spiritual adviser.“Michael is interested in going out with you,” Couric recalled Boteach saying. “And I was like, ‘wow.’ Could you imagine going home to my daughters, who were about 8 and 4, and saying, ‘Girls, I’m going out with Michael Jackson!’” In the end, Couric chose to pass on the date, which she sometimes regrets. “So I thought it would just be too weird. I mean the tabloids would go crazy; I didn’t need that,” she explained. “Now I’m just really sorry I didn’t have dinner with him because it would’ve been a fascinating conversation. But I just didn’t think it was worth it.” |
