Watch: How Anne Hathaway Became 2013′s Golden Girl Posted: 11 Feb 2013 11:58 AM PST It’s been a big year for Anne Hathaway. In June, the actress – who ranks No. 20 on Celebuzz’s Hollywood Power Index — celebrated the premiere of Christopher Nolan's hotly anticipated The Dark Knight Rises'. Hathaway’s turn as the comic book series' famous Catwoman character met rave reviews. "Anne Hathaway plays one of the more alluring Catwomen since Julie Newmar, creating an incredibly complex character that straddles the line of good and bad enough that you never know whose side she's on," says Edward Douglas of ComingSoon. "Hathaway sometimes takes on a similarly affected way of delivering lines as Bale's Batman when in costume, but neither of the 'villains' ever can quite live up to what the late Heath Ledger brought to the Joker." In September, the actress married sweetie Adam Shulman in a sunset ceremony in Big Sur, Calif. It was the portrait of happiness — the pair welcomed 180 guests for a two-day extravaganza of fall funsurrounding the nuptials, at a private estate with sweeping views of the coastline.
Hathaway’s good fortune continued to blossom through the end of the year and into the next. Her latest film, Les Miserables, opened to much fanfare and continues to earn the actress multiple awards for her role as Fantine, a beleaguered mother who resorts to prostitution and hair-selling to pay for her only child. Starting 2013 out on a high note, the star — who served up some serious elegance at the 2013 Golden Globes – scored a coveted Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress, and is expected to win the award on Feb. 24. Find out what our experts have to say about Hathaway by watching the video above! |
What Would ‘Carrie Diaries’ Star AnnaSophia Robb Change About Carrie? Posted: 11 Feb 2013 10:49 AM PST AnnaSophia Robb admits there are some things about her character on The CW’s The Carrie Diaries that she would like to change. "I want her to calm down a little bit, not think about stuff so much," she said while on a break shooting the show in Brooklyn. "And those are really changes that I would want to make happen in my own personality! But, it's good to have all those faults because that's what makes a person interesting." The 19-year-old actress is charming and thoughtful when discussing her celebrated alter ego, but is careful not to spill the beans on what's in store for Carrie and Sebastian except to say that the couple "have a bunch of trials to work through together and you never know exactly how each one feels about the other, it changes all the time." So will Carrie have someone new to swoon over? "I'd like to see her date other guys, because I think it's more interesting, it's conflict, it introduces new characters and you see how she responds to different situations," but she admits, "when you introduce a character as a love interest in the first episode of a show you always kind of want them to end up together." The Soul Surfer star only had the highest praise for Austin Butler, who plays Sebastian Kydd. "He's like the nicest guy in the entire world," she enthused. "He's so respectful of everyone and very funny. We always have a great time on-set laughing and goofing around. It's hard to take each other seriously, it's always supposed to be this flirty, sexy scene and we end up laughing at each other." The petite actress says that the show's executive producer Amy B. Harris and the network stressed that they definitely did not want an impersonation of a young Sarah Jessica Parker playing Carrie Bradshaw which she's happy about. "We're not replicating the show," although, "I personally wanted to have a tie into to Sex and the City, where you can see where Carrie begins. It's nice to have the show and pick up some things to develop my character." Robb did catch up on all the seasons once she started auditioning and fell in love with the show and the characters. She even met the original Carrie Bradshaw AKA Parker at a fashion show after she had won the part, but it was a very fleeting get together. "It wasn't anything super personal, it was at a fashion show," Robb explained. "She's teeny-tiny! She still has a fantastic body! I think every woman envied her on that show." Even though she's been working since she was a child (appearing on shows like Drake & Josh),Robb still attended a regular school. In fact, she only graduated a couple of years ago! "I went to a public high school and it wasn't nearly as glamorous as this," she said laughingly. "But, I had the best time in high school. I made so many great friends. I'm super close with so many friends from high school." |
‘The Vampire Diaries,’ ‘Supernatural’ and ‘Arrow’ Renewed Posted: 11 Feb 2013 12:19 PM PST It’s a good day for TV lovers. On Monday, The CW announced that fan favorites The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural and freshman series Arrow will all be returning for the Fall 2013 season. “We said last year that one of our goals was to establish building blocks to grow on, and now with our new hit Arrow and fan favorite Supernatural on Wednesday night, and the continued success of The Vampire Diaries on Thursday, we’ve been able to do that,” said network president Mark Pedowitz in a press release. ”Not only do Arrow, Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries perform well on-air, they’re also extremely successful for us both digitally and socially. I’m thrilled to have all three shows returning to our schedule next season.”
Heading to its fifth season, The Vampire Diaries – which stars Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley– shows no signs of slowing down as it remains The CW’s highest rated series for adults 18-34 and women 18-34. Likewise, Supernatural, which will be heading into its ninth season, continues to be a ratings juggernaut with a 15 percent increase in viewers since paired with superhero drama Arrow this year. Starring Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, Supernatural was also voted as the TV show with the most dedicated fandom amongst Celebuzz readers. |
And The Grammy’s Most Shocking Trend Was … Pants?!? Posted: 11 Feb 2013 12:00 PM PST The hair was unfussy and the makeup mostly classic and pretty. The fashion was sophisticated but relatively subdued. So what were the big style statements of the night — and who made them? From sparkle, sheer and slits to black, green and red, the red carpet at this year’s Grammy Awards could have been mistaken for the Emmy Awards or Golden Globes, offering up much of the same trends we’ve been seeing for the past few seasons. Still, there were a few standout looks strutting down the red carpet: Pants made their red carpet debut for the season, with Beyonce, Kaley Cuoco and Janelle Monae opting for black skinnies over dresses and gowns.
And while longer hemlines may not seem shocking, for the Grammy’s — the first awards show to have a dress code implemented to keep the attendees from showing too much skin — the absence of mini dresses was certainly surprising. Replacing the mini were knee-length and tea-length hemlines worn by the likes of Alexa Chung, Kat Dennings and Faith Hill. But there were still plenty of stems on display courtesy of daring slits and sheer skirts. Check out more of the night’s biggest trends below. |

Kim Kardashian To Take Nigeria Posted: 11 Feb 2013 11:15 AM PST Kanye West may be spending this Valentine’s Day weekend alone — if he doesn’t want to jet off to Nigeria, that is. His ladylove and baby mama, Kim Kardashian, has been announced the co-host and “special platinum guest” for R&B singer Darey‘s Feb. 17 concert titled “Love Like a Movie,” reports Nigerian Entertainment Today. The concert, which will take place at the Convention Centre of the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, will also feature Nigerian superstars such as 2face Idibia, Flavour, Ice Prince and Iyanya. Kardashian, 32, has been racking up her frequent flyer’s miles before the impending birth of her first child.
The pregnant starlet, who is currently expecting her her first child, was spotted playing tourist in Rio de Janeiro with beau West, 35, last week. With a tiny baby bump peeking out from under her dress, the Kourtney & Kim Take Miami star was all-smiles as she posed in front of the city’s famous Christ the Redeemer landmark. In the past months, Kardashian has also visited the Rome, Paris and the Middle East. |
Watch: Broadway, Brace Yourself — Big Ang Is Coming Posted: 10 Feb 2013 06:35 PM PST First stop, Mob Wives. Next stop? Broadway! Angela “Big Ang” Raiola, the plastic surgery-praising, Botox-loving breakout star of the hit VH1 series, is taking her talent to the Great White Way come March. She is set to star for one night only on March 9 in Anthony J. Wilkinson‘s My Big Gay Italian Wedding, a comedy about a same-sexy marriage that is returning to Off-Broadway. “Well, I know Anthony from the play, so he asked me,” she told Celebuzz. “So I'm doing this favor for my friend.” This is not Big Ang’s first appearance in the play, which premiered back in 2003 at the Actor's Playhouse. “I was already on it once, three years ago,” she said. “I just did a little thing with my girlfriend Angelina ’cause she's like a very dear friend of his. So me and her did it.
But this time around — during the show’s recently-extended run at St. Luke's Theatre — Ang is ramping up her role. “I'm gonna really do a bigger part this year,” she gushed. “I think I'm gonna be catering the party [or] the wedding.” Not only does she adore the show for it’s side-splitting humor, but Big Ang feels a special bond to Brooklyn neighborhood it’s based on. “They're so funny. And I know about all the places,” she explained, noting her children were baptized at The Basilica Of Regina Pacis church, where the play’s wedding is said to take place. “So I know the neighborhood they're talking about. It's hysterical.” Big Ang joins a ever-expanding list of celebrities who have popped into the play for special appearances, from Bravo’s Tabatha Coffey, to former N’Sync member Lance Bass, to stars of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. And Ang wouldn’t turn her back on other on-stage opportunities, telling us, “Whatever comes my way!” Though she relishes her bit roles on stage, Big Ang doesn’t frequent the theater. “I don't go to many plays because I have to smoke and I have to drink,” she said with a chuckle. “It makes me nervous. I'm uncomfortable, my legs are uncomfortable. I just get very fidgety when I have to sit for two hours. [And] you can't even have the drink at your seat anymore!” |
The 11 Most Memorable GIFs From Last Night’s Grammy Awards Posted: 11 Feb 2013 11:32 AM PST The Grammys had its fair share of memorable moments on Sunday. (Read our own favorites here.) But, as any trusted reader of the Internet knows, it’s never truly a moment until it’s captured in GIF form. Which is why Celebuzz went ahead and rounded up our favorite GIFs from the 2013 Grammys and compiled them into one handy, dandy list. Not every moment made it. unfortunately. (How long until someone makes a GIF of Melissa Etheridge aggressively sing along to The Lumineers?) But we did get enough of Taylor Swift dancing and Beyonce repping Houston for this to be a worthwhile recap.
Check it out, below. 1.) Chris Brown snubs Frank Ocean. Sad … 2.) But, awww … 3.) Taylor Swift turned the whole show into a fan girl concert. 4.) Beyonce represented Houston. 5.) And got all cute on stage with Ellen DeGeneres. 6.) While her husband enjoyed his drink with Jessica Biel and Solange. 7.) And got all cute on stage with Justin Timberlake. 8.) And then Prince showed up! With a cane. 11.) Also, this happened, too, for whatever reason. Yay, Grammys! What was your favorite moment from the Grammy Awards? Sound off, below. |
‘Carrie Diaries’ Creator Talks Sex And The Series Posted: 11 Feb 2013 09:54 AM PST The CW's The Carrie Diaries thrust its main character (AnnaSophia Robb) into a relationship with Sebastian (Austin Butler) on only the second episode. But things cooled off before they even really got started, especially for a show set in high school, the time in every young girl's life that serious questions and concerns start to arise about sex, love, and relationships. Naturally, The Carrie Diaries is not shying away from these things — for any of the characters — and things are about to be propelled forward now that there's a new guy on Carrie's horizon. You may have thought learning Sebastian hooked up with an old teacher was enough to have Carrie stressing about losing her own virginity, but when an old childhood friend, George (Richard Kohnke), resurfaces on Monday’s episode, "Dangerous Territory," the discussion may just have to be raised sooner, rather than later. "He's definitely someone new in Carrie's life who will be around for a nice little arc. I like triangles, and this time there's a quadrangle coming with Donna and Sebastian and Carrie having the possibility of George," The Carrie Diaries creator Amy B. Harris said at a screening in Los Angeles, Calif.
"He's definitely a more relaxed energy than Sebastian, and I kind of like that about him. To me it was sort of fun to bring him in in a part of Manhattan we hadn't seen… This was a way of bringing in this sort of Upper East Side socialite world, which was so big in Manhattan in the 80s." Though initially when Carrie and George reconnect, it's done in a very sweet, innocent way (he invites her to one of his mother's lavish dinner parties), Harris admitted that things move along quickly for George's arc on the season and not all that differently from Mouse's (Ellen Wong) own mini-arc of worrying over whether or not she's any good at sex with her college-aged boyfriend. "There's an innocence to this show that I am not seeing on TV on a lot of other shows, but a realism, as well, which is 17- year-olds having sex,” Harris said. “I think that's the reality of your experiences in high school. You're still innocent and hoping for the best, and yet you're also experiencing all of these milestones, and they're happening in such juxtaposition to your life in your parents' home." "I think with our characters, everyone's sort of losing it in their own way, and sometimes it can shape who you are. I think Maggie having lost it to [Simon] and not to Walt says a lot about who she is and what she's chasing. To me, she's the opposite side of the Samantha coin; if Samantha uses sex as a power point, Maggie is using sex to find love and intimacy in a place where it's not always [there]." Harris considered Carrie to be much more of a romantic, though, pointing out that she wants "something special" out of such a serious step in her life and therefore is "struggling with what it means for her." "What I love about Carrie is she actually values her virginity and thinks about what that will be and who she wants to give it to. I think George being older and from a more sophisticated world has a different attitude about it. Some people think virginity is something to get out of the way, and some people think it's a treasured milestone, and I like putting Carrie up against both," Harris said. Carrie certainly will not be taking the how and when of the decision to lose her virginity lightly, but getting to explore such stories is part of what Harris hopes makes the show relatable to the young audience today — and audience she believed is "secretly thinking these things or whispering them at tables with my girlfriends about what I hope for or dream for, or how I lost my virginity, or am I doing a good job because I really don't know anything about the penis yet" — just as Sex and the City spoke to, and up for, a generation of women before it. The Carrie Diaries airs Mondays at 8PM on The CW. Are you excited to meet a new romantic prospect for Carrie or do you just want her to get back together with Sebastian already? Sound off in the comments below. |

Heartbreak Makes A Hit: The Story Behind Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Stronger’ Posted: 11 Feb 2013 10:23 AM PST Adele famously won a whopping six Grammys after penning her heartbreak album 21 in 2012, and now songwriter Ali Tamposi is gunning to do the same. The 22-year-old, who co-wrote Kelly Clarkson‘s Grammy-nominated “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You),” told Celebuzz on the 2013 Grammy Awards red carpet that she only has her ex-boyfriend to thank for inspiring her to write the little revenge tune. “I wrote the song heartbroken. I was going through a serious heartbreak and it turned around. I mean, it’s gotten me so far,” she said. “It went No. 1 for four weeks and then I’m here [at the Grammys].” “So, thank you to my ex-boyfriend for breaking my heart,” she continued, laughing. “I need my heart broken more often!” Will Tamposi, who’s currently dating Maroon 5‘s James Valentine, write another breakup song anytime soon?
All signs point to yes. According to the Florida-native, she has a few more ideas in her back pocket. “I told Kelly…’Listen, you’re engaged. You’ve got rainbows and butterflies. I’ve got enough heartbreak to last us a few more hits,” the songwriter told us. For now, Tamposi revealed that she’s currently working with Demi Lovato, Shakira and The X Factor alum Fifth Harmony. But who else does she have her eyes set on? “Cassadee Pope is my roommate. She just won The Voice and she’s in Nashville. Going down there, I’d like to get a few country hits,” Tamposi added. “I’d love to go down there and do that.” Watch our more from red carpet interview with Tamposi in the video — above.

Listen To JT Croon About ‘The Love Of His Life’ Posted: 11 Feb 2013 07:25 AM PST Sounds like JT making sweet music for his newlywed wife. After throwing it back with a big-band orchestra during his two-song Grammy set, Justin Timberlake debuted “Mirrors,” a new track off his much-anticipated comeback album, The 20/20 Experience. Though the eight-minute tune is a far cry from his “Suit & Tie” sound, “Mirrors” brings back the more traditionally pop-centric, synthetic-laced JT, with Timberlake crooning about his “other half” Jessica Biel over a classic mid-tempo Timbaland beat. "It was easy comin’ back to you. Once I figured it out, you were right here all along," he sings, seemingly referring the couple’s split before they tied the knot last fall. “It’s like you’re my mirror, my mirror staring back at me. I couldn’t get any bigger with anyone else beside of me. And now it’s clear as this promise that we’re making, two reflections into one. Cause it’s like you’re my mirror, my mirror staring back at me, staring back at me.” “Baby you’re the inspiration for this precious song,” the lyrics continue. “And I just wanna see your face light up since you put me on. So now I say goodbye to the old me, it’s already gone. And I can’t wait wait wait wait wait to get you home.” The lengthy track then fades out with Timberlake repeating the hook, “You are you are the love of my life.” The tune marks the fourth song that Timberlake has debuted from his forthcoming third solo album, The 20/20 Experience. After commencing his musical comeback with “Suit & Tie” featuring Jay-Z, the Grammy winner unveiled “That Girl” during a pre-Super Bowl party and then performed “Pusher Lover Girl” during his Grammy Awards performance Sunday night. On the heels of his raved-about Grammy Awards performances, Timberlake announced that his new CD — his first since his 2006 release, FutureSex/LoveSounds — will hit shelves on March 19 in Target with two exclusive tracks. Late last week, Timberlake, 32, released the The 20/20 Experience‘s full track listing and artwork, which features JT rocking a suit and tie while getting his eyes checked — a cheeky reference to the album's title. Following the award show Sunday, Timberlake put on a late-night post-Grammy gig in front of a star-studded crowd — from BeyoncĂ© and Scooter Braun to Ed Sheeran and Neil Patrick Harris — at Hollywood Palladium. And according to Showbiz 411′s Roger Friedman, Timberlake has many more shows lined up, as he’s set to announce a tour featuring Jay-Z — his “Suit & Tie” collaborator — starting in late summer. What do you think of JT’s “Mirrors”? Weigh in below. |
Wendy Williams Spills Her Workout Secrets Posted: 11 Feb 2013 10:25 AM PST When it comes to fitness, Wendy Williams is “doin’” great. The television talk show host, who strutted her stuff on the catwalk at Heart Truth’s annual fashion show last Wednesday, told Celebuzz that she has her workout regime all planned out — down to the very last minute. “Get on the treadmill for at least 20 minutes, twice a week,” Williams, 48, said. “I’m not a stickler. I’m not going to say three times a week, but get on that treadmill and race it!” “Twice a week: 20 minutes on the treadmill, about 15 minutes of the weights and then — for the remaining time — maybe 20 minutes of Pilates.” Williams also spilled one beauty secret she thinks every woman should know: how to gain her signature sense of confidence.
Though she admitted that she’s never been always so bold and outgoing, Williams told us she’s learned to be comfortable with herself over the years. “I think that confidence is something that you gain with each birthday,” she said. Do you agree with Williams outlook on life? Watch more celebrity interviews from the red carpet at the Heart Truth fashion show below! |

“As a group, we’re stronger than if there were five people by themselves,” said Zayn Malik in the movie’s interview about his bandmates, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne. And the bond between the boys comes through on the big screen, where the brotherhood that comes with fast fame and global recognition helps keep everyone grounded. All the three artists have taken advantage of advances in film technology to help tell their stories onscreen in a more personal, “you-are-there” style.

Watch Quincy Jones Hit On Celebuzz Reporter At 2013 Grammy Awards Posted: 11 Feb 2013 06:35 AM PST He’s still got it. Seventy-six-year-old music legend Quincy Jones got a little flirty with Celebuzz’s own Nicole Dabeau while on the Grammys red carpet Sunday night in Los Angeles. Although Dabeau was there to ask the questions, it seems Jones was more interested in learning about Dabeau’s life, instead.
“What are your roots?” He asked at the top of the interview. Being the classy man that he is, Jones did eventually answer her questions. But that didn’t stop him from sealing the interview with a little kiss. “You’re a beautiful lady,” he told Dabeau before kissing her on the hand. And that’s how you do it. Check out the moment in the video, above. |
