| ‘Hotel Transylvania,’ ‘Paranormal Activity 4′ and ‘Seven Psychopaths’ Hits HD Posted: 30 Jan 2013 12:22 PM PST  The Super Bowl seems destined to dominate the entertainment landscape this week, but for those folks who aren't fans of football, there are other options. Specifically, home entertainment is starting to get interesting again after a few weeks in which only catalogue titles or independent releases provided the few bright spots for Blu-ray collectors. Celebuzz has assembled a solid roundup of titles, which includes a comedy, a family film and not one or two but three horror movies. Take a look at our picks for the week below.
The Awakening (Universal Studios Home Entertainment) The One-Liner: Rebecca Hall stars in this intimate thriller about a "hoax exposer" who finds more than she bargains for after the death of a child at a boarding school is blamed on a ghost. Picture Perfect? Although the film looks generally gloomy – a sort of overcast, greying sheen – that's intentional, and the high-definition transfer preserves said look with as much vividness and details as one can get through the filters originally used to shoot it. What Else Is There? Deleted scenes, a collection of featurettes and an interview with director and co-writer Nick Murphy give viewers an opportunity to find out how the filmmakers brought the ghost story to life, so to speak. How Badly Do I Want It? A modestly effective little scarefest, this failed to make too many waves last year during its release, but it's worth checking out – at least via a rental – if you're a fan of the genre.
Citadel (New Video) The One-Liner: This SXSW Midnighters Audience Award winner follows an agoraphobe who reluctantly ventures into a towerlike apartment complex to save his family from a group of "possibly supernatural" thugs. Picture Perfect? Shot sometimes in extreme darkness but generally using minimal lighting, the film is as once effectively creepy on home video and disappointingly difficult to view, since detail and clarity are often undermined by shadow-shrouded imagery. What Else Is There? B-roll footage, cast and crew interviews and a making-of featurette reveal the process of making this festival-circuit charmer. How Badly Do I Want It? Another horror film that functions best as alternative programming to studio fare, it's worth checking out via rental, but it doesn't seem to have quite enough intensity or uniqueness to make it the sort of "favorite" film buffs want to watch over and over. Hotel Transylvania (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment)The One-Liner: Clone Wars director Genndy Tartakovsky tackles this monster mash-up about a resort where iconic horror characters shack up without fear of being found out by regular folks. Picture Perfect? In 2- or 3D, this is a gorgeous, vividly-rendered movie, offering spectacular clarity and color that is sure to keep both kids and parents captivated. What Else Is There? The mini-movie Goodnight Mr. Foot, directed and animated by Tartakovsky, is sure to entertain kids, while deleted scenes and a filmmaker's commentary offer deeper insights into the movie for their grown-up counterparts. How Badly Do I Want It? As a solid, family-friendly addition to anyone's home video library, Hotel Transylvania is a pretty terrific choice, so it might be worth buying.
Paranormal Activity 4: Unrated (Paramount Home Entertainment) The One-Liner: The impossibly successful found-footage horror series delivers another installment, finally picking up at the end of the timeline set up in the first three films – even though it doesn't quite pay them off. Picture Perfect? Although each installment was created on the cheap, the images – supposedly photographed on consumer-grade webcams and cell phones – look solid and clear, except when they're supposed to be disorientingly amateurish. What Else Is There? In addition to an unrated cut of the movie, the disc features almost 30 minutes of deleted scenes that the studio gussied up to look like additional "discovered footage," but yet again, there's nothing really chronicling the process of putting these films together, which always happens by committee and an ongoing process of trail and error. How Badly Do I Want It? Definitely the slightest in the series, Paranormal 4 is a disappointment in comparison to its predecessors, but it guarantees several effective scares, making it a worthy rental but not a "necessary" addition to anyone's Blu-ray collection.
Seven Psychopaths (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment) The One-Liner: In Bruges writer-director Martin McDonagh returns with this oddball comedy about a group of crooks and the kidnapped dog that comes between them. Picture Perfect: A remarkably great transfer offers saturated, vivid images that never sacrifice texture or clarity. What Else Is There? With the exception of Seven Psychocats, a parody of the trailer featuring a collection of felines in the actors' roles, the extras are at best superficially insightful, offering conversations with the cast and crew about the characters and locations. How Badly Do I Want It? Depending on your appetite for these irreverent, violent comedies, McDonagh's latest might be a must-see movie for you, but it's at least worth a rental. Vine, a video-sharing start-up that Twitter has recently acquired, allows users to record and upload six-second clips from their at a rapid speed — letting celebrities to share their everyday lives all within seconds of recording. Though the application has been under fire for accidentally letting clips of adult content land on its Editor’s Picks, it nonetheless has attracted a pretty heavy celebrity following in the past week. So who in Tinseltown has jumped onto this virtual trend?

The reality star showed off her star-pronged, gothic diamond rings on not one, but four fingers, demonstrating her love of all things glam. Appearing alongside her sister Kourtney Kardashian, the pair said they were channeling their inner Madonna. Kim told fans on Twitter that she and Kourtney had both intentionally dressed like Madonna for the television appearance. With the soothing sounds of the ocean in the distance, Miley Cyrus found a little relaxation in more ways than one, all thanks to a few yoga poses during a getaway to Costa Rica with Liam Hemsworth and his family last week. The 20-year-old rocked a black bikini while maintaining her focus during a downward dog position on the sandy beach. “Bliss is unchanged by gain or loss,” she wrote during the Jan. 21 trip, adding, “Para para paradise… Rare to get a moment to thank the universe for all my blessings in the form of yoga in a place like this.” In addition to yoga, the singer-actress stays fit with a raw and gluten-free diet, along with taking regular Pilates classes six times a week with instructor Mari Winsor, who gave Celebuzz the full details on her workout. Cyrus’ Pilates regimen consists of exercising the waist, the glutes, the buttocks and the inner and outer thighs to ensure a maximum full-impact workout. In the latest issue of Cosmopolitan, the former Disney starlet opened up about her relationship with Hemsworth, crediting him as the main source of happiness and motivation in her life.“Number one is my relationship with Liam. | Ke$ha Goes Raw in ‘My Crazy Beautiful Life’ (VIDEO) Posted: 30 Jan 2013 11:40 AM PST  Ke$ha is ready to get personal. On Tuesday night, MTV announced that it has picked My Crazy Beautiful Life, a new documentary series filmed over two years by the singer's brother Lagan Sebert and friend Steven Greenstreet. "You might have heard my voice on the radio, seen me onstage or in a music video, but that's only part of the story," the "Tik Tok" singer told MTV News this week. "With this documentary series I'm revealing a more complete picture of what my life is really like. It's not all glamorous but it's all real." From the looks of the new preview, unleashed by MTV this week, Ke$ha fans are given a front-row seat to the 25-year-old's jam-packed life, professional and personal. The series announcement comes just two months after Ke$ha, whose real name is Kesha Rose Sebert, released an illustrated memoir also titled My Crazy Beautiful Life.According to MTV, the new series will include an intimate look at her travels around the world, the making of second studio album Warrior and Ke$ha's relationship with her family. Ke$ha recently released "C'mon," the follow-up to Warrior's first single "Die Young." My Crazy Beautiful Life will premiere on MTV in April. | Who’s Who On Hollywood’s New A-List (PHOTOS) Posted: 29 Jan 2013 05:36 PM PST        For stars like George Clooney and Brad Pitt, Hollywood is getting more and more crowded. Why? Because thanks to the box office clout earned by rising stars — much of which goes hand in hand with recognition at ceremonies like the Oscars and SAG Awards — several actors and actresses have recently joined their ranks in that rarefied airpsace known as the A-List. In just the last year, a wide range of actors, from Channing Tatum to Jessica Chastain, became members of the "New Guard," commanding acclaim and commercial success in remarkably equal measures. | Lindsay Lohan Makes Courtroom Appearance; Trial Delayed Until March (VIDEO) Posted: 30 Jan 2013 11:23 AM PST  Lindsay Lohan appeared in court Wednesday morning for a hearing on three misdemeanor charges stemming from her involvement in a car accident last summer. Lohan — who almost skipped the hearing due to an alleged illness — spoke only to confirm that she was satisfied with her new lawyer, the New York-based Mark Heller, whom the Mean Girls starlet brought on after firing her longtime representative, Shawn Holley, earlier this month. Judge Stephanie Sautner, who previously sent Lohan to prison and placed her under house arrest, subsequently set a new hearing for March 1, at which Lohan is not required to appear, and a trial date for March 18.
Lohan has pleaded not guilty to lying to police, reckless driving and obstructing officers from performing their duties, all from an incident in June, in which she crashed her black Porsche into the back of a garbage truck on the Pacific Coast Highway. As a result of the charges, Lohan’s probation, for which she was placed on after she was accused of stealing a necklace from a Los Angeles-area jeweler, was revoked. Lohan faces up to 245 days in prison, if convicted. According to reports, Sautner will not appear at the upcoming court hearing or trial, as she is soon retiring. |

| When the Bridesmaids Wear Leopard, You Know You’re at Snooki’s Wedding (EXCLUSIVE VIDEO) Posted: 30 Jan 2013 09:05 AM PST  She may not have a date set for her nuptials just yet, but Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi has already chosen her wedding wear. “Leopard has to be involved at some point,” the starlet told Celebuzz at RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 5 premiere party in New York City. “But my wedding dress — I want it to be like a classic white, beautiful. But maybe my bridesmaids will be [in] leopard.” As for the wedding party, there will be some familiar faces from the Jersey Shore cast. “I think the girls will be a part of the wedding,” said Snooki, who’ll head to the chapel with boyfriend Jionni LaValle. “But the boys will probably just come. Maybe Pauly will DJ. But I'm going to invite everybody.”
There’s also another special guy who will no doubt have his time in the spotlight at Snooki’s ceremony: her 4-month-old son, Lorenzo. “Hopefully by that time, [he] will be walking, but if not, we'll just carry him in a wagon. But he's definitely going to be a part of the wedding.” Despite the heavy planning, don’t expect the Snooki & JWOWW star to walk down the aisle anytime soon. “We want to be good parents first, so it's all about Lorenzo,” she said. “Then building [a] house is second. And then our wedding is third. By Valentine's Day, it will be a year that [Jionni and I have] been engaged. So we're just enjoying it. No wedding plans yet.” And how will the couple celebrate their one-year anniversary on Cupid’s favorite day? No firm plans for that, either, but Jionni may want to take heed of the following sentence. Troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan arrived to court for her probation violation hearing on Wednesday looking more than ready to get down to business. The 26-year-old donned a sleeveless black minidress and matching oversized sunglasses as she made her way inside the Airport Courthouse in Los Angeles, where she will once again come face-to-face with Judge Stephanie Sautner. Lohan — who almost skipped her court appearance due to a reported illness — was ordered to appear in court Wednesday morning on charges of giving false information to a police officer, obstructing or resisting a police officer in the performance of his duty and reckless driving. The charges stem from an incident in June, in which Lohan crashed her black Porsche into the back of an 18-wheeler. As a result, her probation, for which she was put on after she was accused of stealing a necklace from a Los Angeles-area jeweler, was subsequently revoked. This marks Lohan’s first appearance in court in about a year. If convicted, she could face up to 245 days in jail. | Dina Manzo Lands Acting Gig on Soap Opera-Inspired Series (EXCLUSIVE) Posted: 30 Jan 2013 09:23 AM PST       Dina Manzo is making the leap from reality to scripted. The former castmember on Bravo's The Real Housewives of New Jersey and star of HGTV's Dina's Party has landed a role on a new series that portrays the behind-the-scenes on daily soap operas called Tainted Dreams. Created by Emmy-winning director and soap opera veteran Sonia Blangiardo (General Hospital, As the World Turns, All My Children, One Life to Live), the new dramedy casts Manzo as Allessandra DiGiacomo. Her character is described as a "smart and successful New York City corporate CEO whose younger gay brother [played by My Big Gay Italian Wedding's Anthony Wilkinson] will face unexpected circumstances due to his sexuality."“Coming from a large Italian family, I was immediately drawn to the character of Alessandra’s family dynamic," Manzo says in a statement. Regarding the casting, Blangiardo says, "I created the role of Alessandra with Dina Manzo in mind, and we are thrilled to have her join our cast. Her constant support of the gay community and her talent makes her the perfect choice for this series." The director created Tainted Dreams after the last of the NYC-based soap operas, One Life to Live, shut down production in November of last year. "I was struck by the loss of this unique art form that had been such an integral part of NYC for decades. I wanted to somehow capture my own two decades working behind the scenes of three different NYC-based soaps," Blangiardo explains. "As a long-time fan of One Life to Live, I am excited to be part of a project centered around the rich, proud heritage of NYC-based daytime drama,” Manzo adds. Manzo joins Tainted Dreams' already announced castmembers, which include All My Children stars Alicia Minshew, Walt Willey Kelley and Michael Lowry; and As the World Turns stars Menighan Hensley and Marnie Schulenburg.Tainted Dreams is produced by NYC Brand Productions, which has yet to finalize a distribution deal for the series. | RiRi on Reconciling with Chris: ‘Even If It’s a Mistake, It’s My Mistake’ (VIDEO) Posted: 30 Jan 2013 12:37 PM PST  Despite the public backlash, Rihanna has no regrets about her reconciliation with Chris Brown. While she’s remained mum on their troublesome relationship, the Barbados native is finally opening up about her reason to take Brown back. “I wasn’t going to let anybody’s opinion get in the way of that,” she said in an interview with Rolling Stone. “Even if it’s a mistake, it’s my mistake. After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I’d rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it.” Their controversial reunion has raised eyebrows and ignited a number of headlines, nearly four years after Brown physically assaulted the “Diamonds” singer after attending a 2009 pre-Grammy party together.
Although they cut ties shortly afterward, the pair put the past behind them and started seeing each other again. “When you add up the pieces from the outside, it’s not the cutest puzzle in the world,” she added.”You see us walking somewhere, driving somewhere, in the studio, in the club, and you think you know. But it’s different now. We don’t have those types of arguments anymore. We talk about s***. We value each other. We know exactly what we have now, and we don’t want to lose that.” Rihanna may be ready to forgive, but she hasn’t forgotten the events of that brutal evening — even admitting her plans to leave if Brown’s violent behavior returns. “He doesn’t have the luxury of f***ing up again,” she admitted. “That’s just not an option. I can’t say that nothing else will ever go wrong. But I’m pretty solid in the knowing that he’s disgusted by that. And I wouldn’t have gone this far if I ever thought that was a possibility.” Most recently, the pair have been cruising through the streets of Los Angeles, posting salacious Instagram photos and canoodling courtside at Lakers home games.

| 10 Spring Trends You Won’t Want to Wait to Wear Posted: 29 Jan 2013 05:34 PM PST        If the world's top fashion designers were planning their spring break, it'd be an adventure-themed trip, with lots of hiking, climbing and sailing, followed by night after night of dancing. All the major trends from the Spring 2013 runways lend themselves to movement, whether it's looser suits, longer shorts, or swingier skirts. Even the season's shoes were sleek. We saw models gliding, instead of clomping down the runways, in flats and thin-soled pumps made for walking.
Ushering in spring were sporty styles designed for playing outside – rain or shine. Sportswear was a common aesthetic, giving the entire season a playful, throwback feel with touches like washed-out denim, high tops, overalls and windbreakers, each done with a mix of feminine fabrics and masculine cool. Dresses, however, were treated with more structure. | JWOWW Might Be Married By Now…If it Weren’t for a Troublemaker Named Sandy (EXCLUSIVE VIDEO) Posted: 30 Jan 2013 08:03 AM PST  Though she’s been engaged since September, Jenni “JWoww” Farley isn’t racing to the altar. Just about a month after her beau Roger Matthews popped the question, Hurricane Sandy tore through JWoww’s home state of New Jersey. The storm left everywhere from Jersey Shore‘s old haunt of Seaside Heights to Toms River, where the reality star resides with her fiancé, in ruins. And though she originally hoped to say “I do” in Las Vegas, the couple’s guest list grew too large, leaving them to consider a more local ceremony. But now in the wake of the havoc-wrecking storm, JWoww is waiting to plan her wedding until the state bounces back. “We were trying to look for venues in Jersey for 500 people, and that's hard,” she told Celebuzz at RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 5 premiere party. “So we're like, instead of getting overworked and being like, 'Our wedding can't happen,' let's just take a breather and wait for Hurricane Sandy to fix itself.”“Roger lost his house because of that, so I don't want him to waste any money on the wedding,” she continued. “I feel like it all should go to his house. I feel like the places I would like to go have to get rebuilt. They don't even exist right now — they're closed down till next summer. So once everything goes back to normal, then we can start planning.” But in the meantime, JWoww may restart her search for her fairytale wedding dress, which viewers saw cut short on this season’s Snooki & JWOWW just before Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi went into labor with her now 4-month-old son, Lorenzo. “Now that I'm engaged, I can legitimately go. It's not that shady sh*t where I'm like, 'Babe, I just want to go,’” Jwoww said. “I want to try on like 80 dresses.” But before her BFF Snooki will join her at the bridal shop, the new mom wants to shed all her baby weight. “She doesn't want to try on dresses right after having a baby,” JWoww explained. “Now she wants to get to her goal weight. When she gets to her goal weight, we're going to go.”While the wedding may still be a ways away, JWoww is soaking up every second of engaged life. “I got this fabulous ring,” she gushed, flashing the rock Matthews put on her finger. But the best part of being engaged? Said Ms. Woww: “Knowing that we're committed to each other.” |
| We Didn’t Spot a Nursery in Jennifer Aniston’s New Mansion Posted: 30 Jan 2013 10:03 AM PST  Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux are preparing to nest in their new $20 million dream home — but not in the way you think. The A-list couple are currently re-building an ultra-modern, 9,000-square-foot two-story abode in Bel Air, Calif. and despite constant pregnancy rumors, there aren’t any plans for a nursery just yet. Instead, the new home will boast a rather unexpected feature: a Chicken House. That’s right – situated on the grounds behind a guest house will be a place for Aniston’s feathered friends — complete with two wooden decks for her and Justin to sit and feed their chickens. The former Friends star previously admitted that she likes to relax by watching her unusual pets and has set aside a special place for them inside the grounds of her fabulous new home. “They’re very social animals, and they like it when you visit them with a cup of coffee in your hand,” she once told The Globe. But Aniston’s chicks aren’t the only ones who’ll be sitting pretty: Celebuzz took a sneak peek inside the couple’s new home, which sits high above the Bel Air Country Club on 3.25 acres of land — and we discovered a whole lot of luxury. The mansion’s first level features a high-tech indoor gym and changing area, plus a gourmet kitchen. And if Jen and Justin ever tire of cooking, no problem: a butler’s kitchen is nearby.Also on display: a family room with a large bar, a dining room that looks out to an outdoor water feature, a library and a huge master bedroom complete with a master bathroom and closet. And if you’re into scenic views, get jealous: a private garden is located off the bathroom, while a deck is just off the bedroom. A staircase with a water sculpture feature leads down to the ground floor section that consists of two large guest bedrooms and bathrooms with surrounding closets plus a Lanai-style deck off the second bedroom.The grounds also boast a 550-square-foot guest house, a rectangular swimming pool with adjacent pool house and — get this — a vineyard. The mansion will be surrounded by landscaped gardens plus a gravel driveway that leads to a sleek motor court. The new design will incorporate large glass panels throughout to blend into the picturesque setting and to maximize the stunning views of the surrounding Santa Monica mountains. And it’s as safe at Fort Knox: Jen and Justin — whose celebrity neighbors will include Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Meg Ryan and Nancy Reagan – will also install a state-of-the-art security system. In January, 2012, Aniston splashed out almost $21 million to buy the original 8,500-square-foot 1965 home by eco-friendly architect A.Quincy Jones, which had 4 bedrooms and 6.5, baths. But that was chump-change for the bankable star – she originally bought her previous Hal Leavitt-designed Beverly Hills home in 2006 for $13.5 million… and flipped it five years later for a startling $35 million. |

Indeed, cameras were able to give fans an up close and personal look at the big moment, which officially occurred shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, N.J. Along for the ride: Snooki’s co-star, Jenni “JWoww” Farley; JWoww’s fiance, Roger Matthews; Snooki’s parents; and Snooki’s fiance and baby daddy, Jionni. He's just one of the bizarre characters that make up their new unscripted series, Freakshow. Part of the network's new "Real Original Thursdays" starting Feb. 14, Freakshow follows Todd Ray's quirky family business – the Venice Beach Freakshow. Todd left behind a career in music to follow his passion of bringing together the most bizarre people and things together for what could possibly be the strangest experience anyone has hever had.And Morgue is Freakshow's host, the guy who plays the face of the whole operation. "My name is Morgue, because if you tried what I tried you'd be dead," he says in Celebuzz's exclusive video. What's Morgue's specialty? "I do a lot of weird acts," he explains. "I do stuff with drills and hooks and needles and swords… I kind of show the weirder, darker side of the Freakshow." Find out more about Morgue by watching our exclusive video above.
