Kirsten Dunst and Jim Sturgess Attempt to Fight Gravity (VIDEO)

Posted: 26 Jan 2013 12:09 PM PST

Can love outlast gravity?

That's the question posed by Juan Diego Solanas' new sci-fi romance Upside Down, starring Kirsten Dunst and Jim Sturgess.

The problem for the two, who play love interests, is that they're from opposing worlds: that's two planet Earths, with two different societies and rules.

"I come from the only known solar system with two twin planets, each with its own and opposite gravity," Sturgess' character Adam says in a voiceover.

"Now in our world, it's possible to fall up and to rise down."

After getting caught together, Adam and his ladylove Eden (Dunst) fall back into their own world (thanks to gravity), and Adam devises a plan to visit the other world.

The film, which has already been released in Canada and Russia, is slated for a Mar. 15 release in the U.S., followed by an Apr. 17 opening in France.

Check out the new trailer for Kristen Dunst and Jim Sturgess' new flick, 'Upside Down.' What do you think of the story about love and gravity? Weigh in below.

All hail the Queen.

With just over one week to go before her Super Bowl halftime performance, Beyonce Knowles granted fans a preview of her highly anticipated show.

From group rehearsal photos to snapshots of Bey rocking a Brooklyn Nets tee-shirt, the behind-the-scenes photos — posted to both the singer's Instagram and Tumblr — shed little on what viewers can expect on Feb. 3.

According to a leaked set list, the 31-year-old superstar will belt out her hit "Crazy In Love" before reuniting with Destiny's Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williamson stage for a medley of the group's greatest.

But as Williams told MTV this week, the ladies are far too busy to rehearse for a reunion.

"Just thinking about it gives me a headache. It seems quite impossible because of our own individual schedules. My opening night for Fela! is January 29," she said. "I've been in rehearsals for that, so I haven't had time to think about learning anything else. But who knows? Maybe sometime in the future, five or 10 years from now, we'll see."

Yes we will. Don’t forget to tune into the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday, Feb. 3 to see if DC3 reunites on stage.

Check out the gallery, above, for photos from Beyonce's halftime show rehearsal. Do you think there will be a Destiny's Child performance next Sunday? Weigh in below.

This Week in Celebrity Twitpics (PHOTOS)

Posted: 26 Jan 2013 10:53 AM PST

It’s time to celebrate the weekend with a roundup of celebrity Twitpics. From shopping to hanging with their best friends, the stars have been busy sharing their activities to the Twitter world.

This week, the Jonas Brothers landed in South America to kick off their 2013 tour. The boys are back with new music and Kevin Jonas shared a photo via Twitter of the brothers greeting some passionate fans from their hotel balcony. No word on when there will be a new single, but whatever it is, it’s sure to be a hit.

Miley Cyrus went on a shopping spree earlier this week and was in need for some fashion advice. The singer took to her Twitter to ask her followers if she should splurge on the outfit. Seeing as it was a mint colored top that is a top color for spring, we’re hoping she left with a shopping bag or two.

In between takes of a photo shoot, Rihanna posted a photo of herself looking glamorous with glowing skin. The “Diamonds” singer turned some heads as the photo also included what appears to be a blunt.

Khloe Kardashian likes to keep her friends close and in her latest Twitpic, she cozies up next to her best friend Malika. The reality star has had a rough week in the tabloids and her best friend was probably the perfect remedy.

Is ‘Movie 43′ Really THAT Bad?

Posted: 26 Jan 2013 09:22 AM PST

It’s safe to say that Movie 43 has the largest ensemble cast of 2013 yet.

With stars Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman, Kate Winslet, Justin Long, Anna Faris and about 40 other A-list names featured in the film, the movie is expected to garner a lot of attention. Surprisingly though, there has not been much buzz about the comedic compilation.

The Peter Farrelly-helmed flick features 12 different storylines, each one done by a different director including Tower Heist‘s Brett Ratner and actors Elizabeth Banks and Bob Odenkirk.

As the movie was not screened for critics prior to its Friday release, reviews have been trickling in slowly — and they have not been pretty.

Alonso Duralde, The Wrap

"Movie 43 is gross, juvenile, disgusting, scatological, vile, reprehensible and in the worst possible taste. But heaven help me, I laughed."

Michael O’Sullivan, The Washington Post

"Movie 43 is a near masterpiece of tastelessness. The anthology of 12 short, interconnected skits elevates the art form of gross-out comedy to a new height."

Frank Scheck, The Hollywood Reporter

"Despite A-list involvement that includes everyone from Kate Winslet and Hugh Jackman through Greg Kinnear and Naomi Watts, this painfully unfunny collection of comic shorts qualifies as one of the worst films of all time."

Alonso Duralde, Yahoo

“If you’ve seen the trailer, you’ve seen more of the jokes and set-ups than you perhaps should have, but even so, there are still surprises to be found in Movie 43. You might hate yourself in the morning, but if your own inner 14-year-old still finds this kind of material amusing, throw propriety to the wind and enjoy some dirty giggles.”

Peter Howell, Toronto Star

“It's not a ‘good bad’ movie, the kind where you laugh at the incompetence on display. It's simply a terrible movie, the kind that makes you feel lousy for having spent money to see it.”

Lou Lumenick, The New York Post

“Well, if you mashed-up the worst parts of the infamous Howard the Duck, Gigli, Ishtar and every other awful movie I've seen since I started reviewing professionally in 1981, it wouldn't begin to approach the sheer soul-sucking badness of the cringe-inducing Movie 43, which has been dumped on an unsuspecting public without advance press screenings.”

Josh Winning, Total Film

“Dealing in piss, poo and period gags that your little brother outgrew by 15, Movie 43 follows three kids as they scour the internet for the elusive (and very possibly made-up) flick of the title. As their search vomits up one cringe-worthy skit after another, Movie 43amounts to little more than filmic self-flagellation for all involved.”

Nathan Rabin, A.V. Club

“The film feels like an assemblage of cut sketches from the Jean Doumanian season of Saturday Night Live, but as bad as SNL can be, it at least holds out the sweet release of a commercial break between dreadful sketches. There's no such respite from the gauntlet of smutty, profane awfulness here.”

Stephen Holden, The New York Times

“If Movie 43 is fitfully amusing, it brings Hollywood's standards of comedy one step closer to the gutter.”

Richard Brody, The New Yorker

“It's as if Movie 43 was itself a feature-length f***-you to Hollywood, a movie made simply to show how bad a movie a studio could be induced to make and actors could be persuaded to act in.”

David Edelstein, Vulture

“It's rare to see a piece of s*** that actually looks and sounds like a piece of s***.”

What do you think of Movie 43? Is it really as bad as what critics say it is? Play movie critic and let us know in the comments below.

After spending a few days as beach bums in Costa Rica, Miley Cyrus and fiancé Liam Hemsworth headed north to Ottawa, Canada.

The couple, in their casual best, were spotted earlier this week at a Chapters bookstore in the Canadian capital.

Staff told CTV News that Cyrus, 20, and her 23-year-old beau spent about 20 minutes in the store in the health and wellbeing section.

Before their visit was over, the engaged pair took the time to take a few snapshots with store employees.

In other Cyrus news, the singer and actress is featured on the cover of Cosmopolitan's March issue, in a white blazer and matching pants, sans bra.

When asked about the most important parts of her life, Cyrus had this to say:

"Number one is my relationship with Liam. That's what I feel the most confident in because you never know; there's so much hype behind my new record, but it could come out and, worst-case scenario, everyone f**king hates it."

Justin Bieber Goes Acoustic (VIDEO)

Posted: 26 Jan 2013 11:32 AM PST

Before Justin Bieber battles it out with Destiny's Child with their new releases Jan. 29 — Believe Acoustic and Love Songs drop on the same day — Beliebers can feast their eyes and ears on his live video for "As Long As You Love Me."

Funnier with Age: Ellen’s Turning 55

Posted: 26 Jan 2013 11:31 AM PST

Happy birthday to the queen of comedy!

Ellen DeGeneres turns 55 this Saturday, and with over 30 years of hilarity behind her, DeGeneres is proving to audiences that she's only getting funnier with age.

After clinching the title of Showtime's Funniest Person in American in 1982, the comedienne's career skyrocketed into the big leagues. DeGeneres landed gigs on the hit television show Open House and in the 1993 film, Coneheads.  But it wasn't until 1994 that her laugh-out-loud comedy material became the basis of her very own sitcom, Ellen.

Besides small-screen television acting, Ellen has dabbled in voiceovers (Finding Nemo's Dory ring a bell?), and, of course, hosts her hit daytime talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she pulls pranks on Jennifer Aniston and Taylor Swift, begs Justin Bieber to pull up his pants, and makes YouTube stars into worldwide sensations.

But what really sets Ellen apart from everyone else (besides the fact that she's totally awesome)?  She's not afraid to be herself, of course! In 1997, Ellen made her homosexuality public on The Oprah Winfrey Show, and shortly after, carried it over to her television show, where her character also decided to come out to a very special guest star: you guessed it — Oprah.

So to celebrate the big day of everyone's favorite comedienne, we're taking a look back at Ellen's rise to success and her most memorable moments.

Check out our gallery, then let us know what your favorite Ellen moment is!

"It's very exciting to have J.J. aboard leading the charge as we set off to make a new Star Wars movie," Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy announced in a statement posted on the franchise's website.

James Franco, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Leonardo DiCaprio: Top 10 Celebrity Quotes of the Week (PHOTOS)

Posted: 26 Jan 2013 11:32 AM PST

Adrienne Maloof Arnold Schwarzenegger Celine Dion Drew Barrymore James Franco Lena Dunham

“I am a bit drained. I’m now going to take a long, long break.”

Which celeb shocked fans this week when he announced his temporary departure from the acting world?

Was it James Franco, Arnold Schwarzenegger or Leonardo DiCaprio?

Find out in Celebuzz's top quotes of the week.

Who was the Hollywood big-wig that said it was time to put his acting career on hold?

It was Leonardo DiCaprio!

In a recent interview with Bild, the mega movie star revealed he will be taking an indefinite break from acting.

This quote makes the list this week, not because of what was said, but because of what it means for fans, ticket sales and Hollywood as we know it.

Since the "inception" (pun intended) of his film career, DiCaprio has been one of the most notable, most esteemed actors, revered by all for his unmatchable talent and impeccable role choices.

Now, after many uninterrupted years of Leo, it seems were going to have to learn to live without him — temporarily, at least.

So what calls for this hiatus?

According to Leo, shooting three films in two years is exhausting — go figure.

At least he's going out with a bang. DiCaprio's latest role as a villainous slave owner in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained was a critical success, and Leo’s two upcoming films — F.Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby and Martin Scorcese's The Wolf of Wall Street – already have people talking.

So what will he do with all of his free time?

“I would like to improve the world a bit,” DiCaprio told the German newspaper.

Seeing as Leo is such a ladies man, we wouldn't be surprised if that included shacking up with an environmentally conscious hottie in a foreign country a la George Clooney.

So with these parting words, Leo, you will be missed!

How long do you think this "long, long break" will last? Sound off in the comments below.

Find out what else the stars had to say this week in Celebuzz's Top 10 Quotes of the Week.

It's One Minute Buzz Time!

This week, the country and the world watched President Barack Obama get inaugurated for a second term, but all eyes — and ears — were also on Beyonce's supposedly live performance of the nation's anthem.

Refer to Celebuzz's guide to the scandal, from details of the alleged online hoax to his chat with Katie Couric.

In music news, Justin Timberlake released a lyric video for his new single, "Suit & Tie." For those still thirsting for some dance moves and an appearance from Jay-Z, don't worry — an actual music video is on the way.

Go Inside Jean-Claude Van Damme’s New $6M Mega-Mansion

Posted: 24 Jan 2013 08:10 PM PST

Jean-Claude Van Damme sure knows how to “kick” it in style.

The Expendables 2 star has splashed out $6 million on a brand new mega-mansion in the Marina Del Rey, Calif. neighborhood of Los Angeles — and we’re taking you inside the home.

Cue the pun: As the real estate game can be a real “Bloodsport,” 52-year-old Van Damme reportedly dished out well over the initial asking price of $5,850,000 to ensure he came out on top in the bidding war to snap up the incredible pad.

According to the real estate listing, the home boasts six bedrooms and eight-and-a-half bathrooms — with plenty more luxury amenities fit for a celeb.

The waterfront abode also features a deluxe master suite with his-and-hers baths and a steam shower, commercial elevator, bar, library and office, billiard room, gym, rec room, 3D home theater, state-of-the-art Sonos audio system, eight fireplaces, an exceptional kitchen, open floor plan and — of course — ocean views.

Aside from being just a stone’s throw from the California coast, the home also has a rooftop hangout complete with an organic garden, swim jet hydro spa, fire pits, and multiple waterfalls.

The Week’s Hottest Hookups, Breakups & Makeups

Posted: 25 Jan 2013 12:03 PM PST

Random Celebrity Couples Random Celebrity Couples Random Celebrity Couples Random Celebrity Couples Random Celebrity Couples Random Celebrity Couples

Love comes and goes in a heartbeat in Hollywood — and with so many star couples hooking up and breaking up, it’s often difficult to keep track.

Can’t get enough of Adrienne Maloof and Demi Moore‘s much younger boy toys?

Have you found yourself asking: Are Haylor ever getting back together? Like…ever?

No need for heartache: we at Celebuzz have compiled a roundup of the most noteworthy relationship stories from this week, along with some expert commentary from Wendy Walsh, Ph.D., author of The 30-Day Love Detox (available from Rodale in April) and resident expert at DatingAdvice.com.

From newfound romances to famous serial daters and more — here’s the latest report from the celebrity lovelines.

Taylor Swift & Harry Styles

After parting ways during a blowout fight in the Virgin Islands, the “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer sparked rumors of a possible reunion with One Direction heartthrob when she unexpectedly flew to London for a “showdown meeting” with her ex. The former flames are also slated to both attend the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes, France this weekend.

Dr. Walsh’s opinion:

Dear Taylor Swift: I thought you were never, ever getting back together? What happened to that promise? Huh? Huh? Oh [yeah], only if it is good for record sales. By the way, I’m not against publicity ships. In fact, I kinda like the idea of Haylor. But the problem here is you two are being just too [obvious]. I mean, parading around a public photo opp wearing Mr. Styles’ shirt, just days after he wore it himself? Even naive 14-year-old girls knew it was a publicity stunt. My advice to you: Find a non-famous dude who is your own age, your own ball size and your own moxie. And stop dating teenagers.

Adrienne Maloof & Sean Stewart

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star raised eyebrows as she started a shocking romance with rocker Rod Stewart‘s son, just months after divorcing her ex Paul Maloof in November. Did we mention the younger Stewart, 32, — who’s gained a notorious bad boy rep — is almost 20 years her junior? Yup. "This started as a business relationship and now we're casually dating," Maloof, 51, told People.

Dr. Walsh’s opinion:

This is nothing to make headlines in this age of the cougar, unless you consider fame and money. Maloof, a current reality star, is reported to be worth $100 million and Stewart, 18 years her junior, has exactly two TV credits under his belt: ‘Sons of Hollywood’ and ‘Celebrity Rehab’. Enough said. Maloof will get exactly what she wants from this relationship: more publicity. And Sean will get what he is accustomed to: a celebrity parent keeping him in the lap of luxury. Will Maloof be heartbroken when her boy toy leaves for greener pastures? Only if the two are smart enough to drop the veil of celebrity and develop a real emotional attachment. My advice: hunker down in a non-tinsel town enclave and really get to know each other. You might find you like more than the show.

Demi Moore & Harry Morton

Move over, Lindsay Lohan. After a string of relationships following her divorce from Ashton Kutcher, Moore has possibly found love once more — this time with LiLo’s former beau, Harry Morton. The actress and Morton — a successful restaurateur — “have been seeing each other for a few months,” according to E! Online.

Dr. Walsh’s opinion:

Dear Demi Moore: I agree that 31-year-old Harry Morton is hot. And yes, he’s a great little trophy to sport while you are licking the wounds cut by Ashton. But he’s a temporary salve, girlfriend. This one, like the last PYT, is destined to sow his young manly oats somewhere, someplace, someday. And then you’ll be left again with the reality of life. Know this: Your power is your talent, your wisdom, and your heart. Don’t let an artificial town give you artificial self esteem. Your girls club knows that sexual power is pretend power anyway. When you are brave enough to tackle a peer — yes, a male with as many foibles and strong scars as you, then you will find your true strength.

Do you think Demi and Harry are in it for the long run? What about the others? Sound off in the comments section, below!

It’s Gilles Marini’s Birthday, and We Know You Want to See Him Shirtless (PHOTOS)

Posted: 26 Jan 2013 11:32 AM PST

Breakout the cake and candles — Gilles Marini celebrates his 37th birthday on Saturday!

It’s been nearly five years since the hunky actor made a splash in the 2008 film adaptation of Sex and the City, where he played Dante, a suave neighbor who catches Samantha’s (Kim Cattrall) attention while showing off his buff bod in an outdoor shower. (Yes, you read that correctly.)

Marini has become a fixture in Hollywood since his sexy cameo, landing roles in Brothers & Sisters, Modern Family, Hot in Cleveland and Switched at Birth.

In 2010, he memorably made a shirtless appearance in the “Handsome Men’s Club,” a skit lampooning Hollywood’s hottest men, which featured the likes of Matthew McConaughey, Patrick Dempsey, Keith Urban, and John Krasinski, on Jimmy Kimmel Live‘s post-Oscar telecast.

Most recently, the French-American actor (he officially became a U.S. citizen in 2012) and married father of two showed off his fancy footwork on the all-star season of Dancing with the Stars, where he and pro partner Peta Murgatroyd were eliminated in week eight.

In one of the season’s best moments, the pair hit the dance floor to PSY’s “Gangnam Style,” with Marini wearing nothing but a white towel. You’re welcome, ladies and gents.

Looking for a little eye candy? Launch the gallery to check out some of Gilles’ sexiest shirtless photos. Then head over to the comments section to wish Gilles a happy birthday!

Spencer Keeps a Secret on ‘Pretty Little Liars’ (VIDEO)

Posted: 25 Jan 2013 08:56 PM PST

The town of Rosewood on ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars is made of secrets and lies.

And no one has more secrets than our four girls: Aria (Lucy Hale), Hanna (Ashley Benson), Emily (Shay Mitchell) and Spencer (Troian Bellisario). But now, it seems that Spence is keeping a major secret from her best friends, at least on the next episode, "Out of the Frying Pan, Into the Inferno."

In a new clip of the episode, Spencer is more than preoccupied about the disastrous events of her anniversary with Toby while Aria and Hanna discuss the secrets Aria and Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) are keeping from their significant others.

When the girls ask if Toby (Keegan Allen) was surprised, all Spencer can offer is, "Yes, there was a big surprise." Though she pretends to be OK, it's obvious she is not and by the end of the clip Hanna and Aria know that something is up.

Talking about the scene, Bellisario called it, "Funny to shoot."

"As you can see Spencer has a lot going on in her own world," she said in an interview cut within the clip. "I remember in that scene I don't say a lot and I was just kind of walking and watching Ashley and Lucy. I think that day they might have been having a little bit of a difficult time getting their lines, so I remember it would be like action – we'd get 5 lines in and go back and start over again."

She joked, "I was going through a pleasant stroll through that scene."

Watch the entire clip including the behind the scenes take from Bellisario above.

Pretty Little Liars airs Tuesdays at 8 PM on ABC Family.

Do you think Spence will confess to her friends about Toby on "Out of the Frying Pan, Into the Inferno?" How about Aria – will she finally tell Ezra about his son? Let us know want to happen in the comments below!

Watch static. Hang out at the DMV. Visit a dairy and see how milk is processed…

The above are all things that movie critics encourage you to do — twice — before daring to see Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters once.

Witch Hunters stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as the grown-up versions of the Grimm Fairy Tale characters, clad in Matrix-style leather gear and wielding anachoristic weaponry as they hunt down, well, witches. The film, directed by European filmmaker Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow), sat on a shelf at Paramount for almost 2 years. Now that people have seen the 3D gore fest, Wirkola might be wishing that they put his movie on a higher shelf.

Bilge Ebiri, Vulture

"You know, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters didn't have to be terrible. The good news is that the actors appear to be having fun. The bad news is that we're not… It's a lot of noise and whooshing camera effects and little else — frantic, yet lifeless."

Andrew Barker, Variety

"Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters is not a good film — it’s inconsistently acted, and somehow both underwritten and overplotted – but it has some good things going for it. To his credit, Hansel & Gretel writer-director Tommy Wirkola never takes the pic’s premise — too seriously. Yet while the film rarely provokes any strenuous eye-rolling, it also can’t drum up even the slightest interest in the fate of its characters, let alone suspense."

Keith Staskiewicz, Entertainment Weekly

"Jeremy Renner tries not to think about his two Oscar nominations as he grimaces and smirks his way through a by-the-storybook plot… Despite the fact that the film is produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, the tone is more cute than clever, and willful anachronisms pop up all over the place."

Stephen Farber, The Hollywood Reporter

"Lots of anachronisms and tongue-in-cheek dialogue establish the spoofy nature of this violent venture. All that's missing is a genuine sense of wit… Renner and British actress Gemma Arterton are certainly game, but this foolish vehicle doesn't give them a chance to show what they do best. With a running time of under 90 minutes, the film is smart enough not to wear out its welcome. But that's the only sign of true intelligence in this juvenile caper."

Katie Walsh, The Playlist

Do you want the good news first or the bad news? Let's start with the good. Firstly, Witch Hunters is less than 90 minutes long. That's good. Also, Gemma Arterton is really pretty and wears a lot of awesome leather pants and gloves and vests and things… The title sequence was neat. And, it's not boring. [The movie] is however, unrelentingly stupid… Do not pass go, do not collect $200, proceed directly to The Playlist's Worst Of The Year 2013 List. In the words of Gretel: "You’ve got to be f!@#ing kidding me."

TLC’s’ ‘Plastic Wives’ Peek: He’s Superficial and I Love Him! (EXCLUSIVE VIDEO)

Posted: 25 Jan 2013 09:48 PM PST

Plastic Wives: Veronica Matlock

I'm not about to judge how people define love.

But, listening to how this wife describes her husband on TLC's new series, Plastic Wives, would make me think she's planning on leaving the guy.

"He's so judgmental," Veronica describes her plastic surgeon husband in Celebuzz's exclusive sneak peek for Sunday's episode. "When I first met him, he had five scales in his bathroom."

"So, even if I start gaining a couple pounds," he says. "He notices it and he'll call me out on it. It can be annoying."

But, this is the world of gated communities, big paychecks and high expectations of physical perfection. And, clearly, this wife is willing to overlook the challenges – especially on her birthday.

Watch the our preview above.

Plastic Wives airs Sundays at 9PM on TLC.
