Inauguration 2013: The Obama Ladies Color-Coordinate (Again) in a Stylish Spectrum of Coats Posted: 21 Jan 2013 01:12 PM PST The inauguration festivities are in full swing, and for those of us tracking the First Lady’s fashion, one of the highly-anticipated fashion moments of Michelle Obama’s career is finally here. After the lemon Isabella Toledo ensemble she wore on Inauguration Day in 2009, we could hardly wait to see what the First Lady wore this time around. And judging by Mrs. Obama’s inaugural outfits so far — and the stylish ensembles worn by first daughters Sasha and Malia — the Obama’s second term in the White House promises to be chic and color-coordinated. While yellow may have won out at the 2009 inauguration, the color theme for this year’s inauguration appears to be a palette of purples and blues. After looking the picture of modern elegance in “it” hue cobalt at President Obama’s official swearing in on Sunday, Mrs. Obama stuck to a similar color scheme for Inauguration Day. For her first appearance at St. John’s church this morning, the First Lady made a stylish statement in a dark blue printed Thom Browne coat and black pumps by inaugural fashion favorite J.Crew (recall the buzz over the J.Crew pieces the Obamas wore to the 2009 inauguration).
As practical as she is posh, Mrs. O used some smart styling tricks to jazz up her look before heading to the Capitol for President Obama’s swearing-in ceremony, cinching her coat with a jeweled J.Crew belt and swapping her pumps for black suede boots. Offering a chic contrast, Mrs. Obama’s berry leather gloves popped against her coat’s darker print. Sticking to the same purple-blue palette as their mom, Sasha and Malia each donned different shades of purple to watch their father’s swearing-in on Sunday, and then reversed their purples for Inauguration Day, with Malia donning a magenta J.Crew coat and Sasha sporting a violet Kate Spade coat. Does this mean the First Lady will be donning a purple or blue inaugural gown as well? It wouldn’t be her first time rocking either color for a formal affair — check out the inaugural-worthy gowns Mrs. Obama has worn over the past four years for an idea of what she might wear to this year’s fetes. What do you think of Michelle, Sasha and Malia’s inaugural looks — and how do they compare to their 2009 inauguration outfits? Take a closer look at the Obama ladies’ 2013 Inauguration style here. Then tell us what you think of their inaugural fashion in the comments below. Take a look back at Michelle Obama’s stylish road to the White House in the video below. |
Khloe Kardashian Is Krazy for the Klippers (PHOTOS) Posted: 21 Jan 2013 11:37 AM PST Khloe Kardashian must be the Los Angeles Clippers’ lucky charm. On Saturday, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star was in the crowd with her mother Kris Jenner to support husband Lamar Odom as his all-conquering teammates team took on the Washington Wizards at the Staples Center in Downtown Los Angeles. The 28-year-old’s court-side cheers must have paid off: The Clippers won the game, beating out the visiting team with a final score of 94-87.They’ve now won an astonishing 24 of their last 27 overall and are within a half-game of Oklahoma City for the NBA’s best record!
Earlier this month, Kardashian was also seen courtside as her husband, 33, defeated the Dallas Mavericks with a score of 99-93. Khloe, 28, sported a red leather jacket with matching red nail polish and lipstick — topped off with the ultimate accessory: a mile-wide grin for her basketballer hubby. Can Khloe continue the Clippers’ winning streak? Launch the gallery to see the starlet at the latest basketball game — above. |
Everyone Knows Someone Like Larissa, Says ‘Carrie Diaries’ Star Posted: 21 Jan 2013 11:39 AM PST Freema Agyeman, who plays Larissa Loughton on The CW’s new series, The Carrie Diaries, thinks everyone knows someone like her outrageous character. "In any situation, there's always one person who is slightly mad and slightly into everything and into the enjoyment of life and not willing to tolerate anything that's mildly difficult," Agyeman told Celebuzz. But Agyeman, who relocated from her native Britain to New York City for the series, says the only thing she shares with her on-screen alter-ego is their mutual "Britishness." She empathizes more with the drama's title character."At this point in my life I feel more like a fledging wide eyed Carrie Bradshaw in awe of everything and I'm being guided by this very capable, slightly insane character," she said. On the pilot, Larissa, the Style Editor for Interview magazine, meets Carrie [AnnaSophia Robb] and doesn't realize she's a high school student and not a career gal living it up in the city. On Monday’s episode, she'll photograph Carrie's purse for a spread in the magazine. How long can Carrie fool the worldly Larissa? "I can say that it does get addressed," she said. "It does come to Larissa’s attention sort of towards the middle of season. How it plays out beyond that I won't and can't say." Look for Larissa to meet more of Carrie's high school pals on the coming episodes. Agyeman also hints that things might become rocky between the two unlikely friends."Initially, Larissa is intrigued by the fashion and Carrie's accessories," she said. "She does whisk her into her world very quickly. But from what we know of Larissa, she does look like the sort of person who would drop somebody just as quickly. But at the same time, the more she gets to know Carrie the more enamored she is." Larissa is in full-on 80s fashion with clothes as outlandish as her character's personality. "I always look forward to my costume fittings because I walk in and I can instantly tell which rail is mine, because they have the brightest shiniest outfits that make me smile because they are so outrageous and so wacky but beautifully put together," she said. "I think they look like pieces of art." Viewers have already seen Larissa shoplift. And there's definitely more to this party girl than we know. Agyeman said that on the early episodes, Larissa's role is really to be the “Mad Hatter” to Carrie's “Alice.” But as the series progresses, viewers will get to see more about what makes Larissa Larissa. "She is a force of nature and it is fun and it's exciting but nobody can be that person all the time," she said. At 33, Agyeman is one of the older stars on the series. "We all do things together, but sometimes I am that dear old auntie who says, 'No, kids, I'm going home to have a glass of wine. I'm not going to go to karaoke tonight,'" she laughs.Agyeman had previously starred on the British hits Doctor Who, Torchwood and Law & Order: UK. So, she's getting used to some of the difference that comes with filming on this side of the pond. There's the overabundance of food at the craft service table. The fact that she has a stand-in and a chair with her character's name on it. And the paparazzi that surrounds the cast while they're filming on the streets of New York. "It's all terribly Hollywood and very glamorous," she said. "It all adds to be me kind of pinching myself while I'm on-set, really feeling like I'm here. This is a whole new chapter for my career." But while she's beginning this new chapter, she's not forgetting the story that came before. She'll even attend a Doctor Who fan convention in February. "I do feel like they're quite different jobs that have quite different fans, but I am adamant to always keep them linked in terms of my connection," she said. "Because I am the same person and really am grateful to my fans that remain loyal despite me crossing over to different genres and moving on to different projects." The Carrie Diaries airs Mondays at 8PM on The CW. |

Posted: 21 Jan 2013 01:18 PM PST A grand finale for a grand moment. In a day filled with inspiring speeches from some of the nation’s revered figures, Beyoncé Knowles stunned the crowd with her rousing rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” during the closing moments of the inauguration Monday in Washington D.C., where President Barack Obama was sworn into his second term. But it wasn’t without its technical and audio difficulties: Indeed, if you take a look above right around the 1:10 mark, Queen Bey made the courageous decision to rip out her earpiece mid-song and was still able to deliver a flawless performance. So much so, it was sealed with a kiss from First Fan Michelle Obama and her husband!
The 31-year-old singer arrived in style, donning a black sequined Pucci dress with hubby Jay-Z on her arm, topping off her look with a Christian Dior coat and emerald Lorraine Schwartz earrings. A longtime supporter of the POTUS, Beyoncé’s performance marks the second time she’s appeared at a presidential inauguration for Obama. In 2009, she famously covered the late Etta James hit, “At Last” as the president and first lady danced with each other at the Neighborhood Ball. Throughout the past four years, Beyoncé has shown her dedication to the Obama family. In April 2012, the “Single Ladies” singer penned a personal thank-you letter to Michelle Obama, praising Michelle’s inspiration to African-American women. Beyoncé even used her sartorial sense to pay tribute to the Commander-in-Chief with a pair of gold-plated earrings as she was spotted out and about in October.A month before, Bey and Jay-Z organized a $40,000-per-head fundraiser at the rapper’s 40/40 Club in New York City, honoring the president’s first term in office. “Beyoncé couldn't be a better role model for our daughters," Obama boasted during the event “because she carries herself with such class and poise and has so much talent.” And as the November election winded down, Beyonce published another heartfelt letter for the President, thanking him yet again for his “heart and character.” "You are the reason my daughter and nephew will grow up knowing that they can truly be ANYTHING they want to be,” she wrote. Watch the video, above, to see Beyonce perform the national anthem! Then tell us what you thought of Bey’s patriotic rendition in the comments, below. |
How Being Justin Bieber Gets You Special Treatment Posted: 21 Jan 2013 11:23 AM PST How does Justin Bieber get over a break-up and get ready for a sold out concert at the same time? He blows off some steam, apparently. While the pop star was in Nashville, Tenn. last week for a concert at the Bridgestone Arena as part of his national tour, he shelved his well-tuned talents — albeit for a moment — and instead, flaunted his famous swagger on a basketball court. The 18-year-old heartthrob reserved the entire basketball court at the downtown YMCA Jan. 17 for a private pick-up game between the Canadian crooner and his back-up dancers, Celebuzz has learned."It was special and pretty private," YMCA employee Sheena Wright told Celebuzz, in an exclusive interview. "I've never seen that happen before here.” Nor, could bystanders.
"We blacked it out so no one could see inside," Wright added. "Nothing like it has happened before at this facility." "So many people were wondering who was here. There were some ‘lookie loos’ and people asking questions about what was going on."Bieber has long been a big basketball fan: He is often spotted courtside in Los Angeles, even once locking lips with his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez, 20. The young couple called it quits for the second time in one month just after the New Year. |
Obama Inauguration: What the Stars Are Saying Posted: 21 Jan 2013 01:18 PM PST It’s official: Barack Obama is back for four more years in the White House. With approximately 600,000 people assembled on the National Mall and millions more watching worldwide, Obama and Vice President Joe Biden were sworn in front of the Capitol in Washington, D.C., shortly before noon on Monday, a date on which the nation honors Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. . The swearing-in was solely ceremonial, following their formal, constitutionally-prescribed oath of office in the privacy of the White House residence Sunday. But the commemoration packed much star-powered celebration. Before Obama preaching about America’s founding principles in his second Inaugural Address, James Taylor sang “America the Beautiful” and American Idol alum Kelly Clarkson belted out ”My Country ‘Tis of Thee.” But it was Beyoncé— and her soaring rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner — that garnered the biggest wave of cheers from the the Washington crowd. And the applause continued on Twitter, as the social media site lit up with 1.1 million tweets during the ceremony (a lot more online chatter than Obama’s first inauguration, which tallied just 82,000 tweets). So as the Obama continue on this historic day — which will see them lead the traditional parade down Pennsylvania Avenue before attending two official inaugural balls — see what Hollywood is saying about the inauguration on Twitter.Eva Longoria: Happy Inauguration Day!!! Beyonce’s Rumored New $5.9M Mansion (PHOTOS) Posted: 21 Jan 2013 12:20 PM PST Home is where the heart is. Beyonce is reportedly looking at a stunning $5.9 million dollar mansion in her hometown of Houston. The 25,000-square-foot estate would be a gift for her mother and business partner Tina – and not a new home for her and hubby Jay-Z and daughter Blue Ivy. The larger-than-life home is located in Houston’s prestigious Piney Point Village and was originally listed for $19 million over three years ago. If there’s one thing the home isn’t running short on, it’s bathrooms. There are 16 restrooms available throughout the palatial property at your disposal. The home also features two jacuzzis, a pool with a private entrance, a game room and a theater room. Beyonce is a busy bee these days. The new mother is preparing for her Super Bowl halftime performance and her latest album release. B’s been teasing photos of herself in the studio but has yet to release the first single off the album.Click on the gallery above to check out the home Beyonce’s taking a serious look at. |
Inauguration 2013: Michelle Obama’s 10 Best Gowns (Besides, You Know, That One) Posted: 21 Jan 2013 10:56 AM PST Though the inaugural festivities are underway — and Michelle Obama, along with daughters Sasha and Malia are already killing it with their chic inaugural style – the question on everyone’s minds is: What will Michelle Obama wear to this year’s inaugural balls? Back in 2009, a little-known designer at the time named Jason Wu made Michelle's first inauguration dress and instantly changed the face of first lady inaugural fashion. The ethereal one-shoulder white gown was an instant hit — launching the career of the 26-year-old Parsons alum. The First Lady didn't decide what she'd wear until that morning, and the designer didn't realize his creation would get the inaugural treatment until he saw it on TV, but as soon as the world saw it, Wu and Obama became part of fashion history.
After decades of first ladies playing it safe in conservative and sometimes glitzy, but let’s face it, pretty boring, inaugural gowns, Obama’s modern Jason Wu gown was a breath of fresh fashion air. From there it was only uphill, as the First Lady’s fashion continued to impress during her first four years in office, culminating in this fall’s stylish campaign. And after she showed off a trendy new hairdo, getting bangs in time for the inauguration festivities, its no surprise that the the anticipation and speculation over Mrs. Obama’s inaugural gown has only grown. While we’ll have to wait until tomorrow night to see what the first lady wears to dance in President Obama’s second term, the designers and styles she’s donned when she’s had to get all gussied up for state dinners, galas and other fancy events, may offer a glimpse into what we can expect the First Lady to wear at Tuesday’s inaugural balls. Take a look back at the First Lady’ s top 10 gowns from the past four years. Share your predictions for Mrs. Obama’s inaugural gown in the comments below. Play the video for a look back at Mrs. Obama’s chic campaign style. |
Here’s How Justin Bieber Has Covered His Body With 11 Tattoos Posted: 21 Jan 2013 01:19 PM PST He may still be in his teens, but Justin Bieber has gone under the tattoo needle more than most people do in their lifetime. Over the years, the 18-year-old has racked up over 10 pieces of permanent body art — and continues to expand his ever-growing collection. On Monday, the “Baby” singer was snapped getting his 11th tattoo, a set of Roman numerals tatted on his right collarbone. Sporting only sunglasses and jeans, the Biebs was seen lying down as the number “1975″ was inked on his chest. What does the new tat mean?
Many Beliebers deduced that the number may be a tribute to Bieber’s mother, Patricia Mallette, as she was born in 1975. However, the Canadian crooner’s latest ink is only one of the many designs he has dedicated to family members.
"My grandfather always took me to the stratford culliton every friday night," he wrote along with the snap of the body art, the work of Chente Rios, an L.A.-based tattoo artist who runs Under The Gun Tattoo Company. "This is for you Grampa (sic)." Can’t keep up with his ink? Celebuzz is breaking down Bieber’s entire tattoo collection in our infographic, below. |
Courtney Robertson’s Dream Date: Anyone Who Hasn’t Watched ‘The Bachelor’ (VIDEO) Posted: 21 Jan 2013 09:50 AM PST Courtney Robertson has one little problem when it comes to dating: she doesn’t want to meet a fan of The Bachelor. “I’ve had a lot of guys come up to me and talk to me about things they know I like,” The Bachelor’s season 16 winner, who famously ended her engagement with Ben Flajnik in Oct. 2012, said in an exclusive sit-down with Celebuzz. “And it’s like, did they hear this about me from the show?” And more importantly, are they trying to get on the 29-year-old’s good side with info obtained from The Bachelor?“This one guy was talking about all the same kind of food I like – it was so weird,” Robertson said.
Now, after months in the dating pool, Robertson says she’s officially taking a “time out” to focus on her career. And as for that romance with Bachelor alum Arie Luyendyk? Robertson says there is none. “He asked me out and we had a good time — he’s also from Arizona,” she said of Luyendyk, whom she was caught kissing shortly after her breakup with Flajnik. “But I realized it was too soon. We’re friends, but it just wasn’t for me.“It was just too much Bachelor! I just want a nice normal guy like a firefighter.” To find out more about Courtney’s single life, view the video above. Then tell us: what kind of man do you think is the perfect mate for Courtney? |
Who’s That Guy Cuddling Up to Selena Gomez? Posted: 21 Jan 2013 01:19 PM PST Selena Gomez‘s single status may not last long. In the wake of her split from Justin Bieber, the singer-actress isn’t drowning in sorrows but instead is setting her sights on a new man: Luke Bracey. At the CAA’s post-Golden Globes soiree, Gomez was spotted cozying up and even holding hands with the Australian actor, who appeared alongside her and Leighton Meester in the 2011 romantic comedy, Monte Carlo, according to Us Weekly. After a blowout fight led to a breakup with Bieber during their New Year’s trip to Mexico, Gomez is moving on. "I'm having fun. At the end of the day, love is such a normal thing, and everyone deals with it,” she told JustJared. “Just because it's a different lifestyle doesn't change the meaning of what I've been raised on, which is fairy tales."So is the Spring Breakers star chasing her happily-ever-after with Bracey? Too soon to say, perhaps — but just in case let’s take a closer look at the little-known hunk from Down Under. 1. He romanced her costar. 2. He’s a soap star. Bracey had a recurring role as Aaron on Dance Academy, an Australian teen-oriented television drama. 4. He’s by no means a big-time movie star. 5. He has promise on the horizon. Do you think Bracey would be a good match for Gomez? Weigh in below. |

Selena Gomez Calls Taylor Swift ‘Inspirational,’ ‘Good-Hearted’ Posted: 21 Jan 2013 10:20 AM PST Selena Gomez had nothing but nice things to say about her good friend Taylor Swift at a benefit concert for UNICEF, held Saturday Night in New York City. “Taylor is one of the most inspirational, positive and good-hearted people that I know,” the 20-year-old singer-actress gushed on the red carpet. “Itʼs incredible that someone can be so successful and so humble.” “Sheʼs a big part of me staying in line,” she continued. “Itʼs nice to just be able to pick up the phone and be like, Ê»I had this person say this, itʼs annoying,ʼ and have someone understand and get what youʼre going through. Itʼs really nice.” Like Swift, Gomez — who has been an ambassador for UNICEF since she was 17 — is getting over a rough break-up after her romance with Justin Bieber reportedly ended last year. She loosely referred to the breakup during Saturday’s concert when she sang her own rendition of Justin Timberlake’s ‘Cry Me a River.’ “Iʼve been through a lot the past few months. Itʼs been weird and sad and cool. This song definitely speaks to me,” she told the crowd. (Bieber performed his own version of the song last November.) But despite her personal setbacks, Gomez — whom Celebuzz spotted arm-in-arm with Josh Hutcherson last week at the Golden Globes — remained upbeat at the event, and reflected positively on her three-year stint with UNICEF.“When you go and visit the kids they have no idea who you are or what you do," she told Celebuzz. “Theyʼre just happy that youʼre there and thatʼs the best feeling in the world. No one is expecting anything from you and youʼre just there helping and itʼs such a beautiful thing.” – Written by Nicki Gostin |
From Mamie to Michelle, Everything About Inaugural Gowns Are Wonderful Posted: 20 Jan 2013 11:02 PM PST The date is set. Beyonce, Katy Perry, and Kelly Clarkson are all booked to perform. DC shopkeepers are rolling out the commemorative buttons and the parade floats have been designed. That leaves just one critical detail to be resolved for the inauguration: What will Michelle Obama wear to the 2013 Inaugural Ball? Back in 2009 a little-known designer named Jason Wu made Mrs. Obama's first inauguration dress. He was just 26 and a Parsons alum. The First Lady didn't decide what she'd wear until that morning, and the designer didn't realize his white one-shoulder creation would get the inaugural treatment until he saw it on TV. With President Obama’s second inauguration festivities kicking off on Sunday with his official swearing in, the fashion world is buzzing about who the next designer will be to dress the First Lady this year. What made Mrs. Obama’s first inaugural gown such a big deal — and why are we so excited to see what she wears tomorrow? To highlight what a game-changer Mrs. Obama’s first inaugural gown — and the Isabella Toledo ensemble she wore to the actual inauguration — we’re putting her inaugural ensemble into context, with a look at how the ethereal white Jason Wu dress stood out from the inaugural fashion worn by First Ladies in the past.
Both Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush were double-term first ladies. They both went bright for their first inauguration (Clinton in bedazzled blue and Bush in sparkly red), and then toned it down with white gowns the second time around. Considering that Mrs. Obama went white first, will she do the opposite and go for color this time? Maybe pink like she wore to the Democratic National Convention? And what about all those other first ladies from years past? We've rounded up the best inaugural styles dating all the way back to the 1700′s. They've done lavender and yellow, sequins, fur and velvet (lots and lots of velvet). One first lady even wore a recycled garb. Bottom line: It looks like Mrs.Obama’s gown will safely make it to the top of the best-dressed inaugural gown list in just about anything she chooses. Click through our gallery for a look back at inaugural gowns over the years. What do you think Mrs. Obama will wear to this year’s Inaugural Ball? Share your predictions in the comments below. Sheryl Crow ‘Was In The Room’ When Ex Lance Armstrong Asked Teammate to Cover-Up Doping (EXCLUSIVE) Posted: 21 Jan 2013 09:12 AM PST Lance Armstrong attempted to orchestrate part of his elaborate doping cover-up by asking an ex-teammate to lie — and it happened in front of his ex-fiancée Sheryl Crow, it can be revealed for the first time. Celebuzz has learned the nine-time Grammy winner was named twice in affidavits submitted to the United States Anti Doping Association which blew the whistle on the seven-time Tour de France winner Armstrong’s performance enhancing drug use. According to Armstrong’s former U.S. Postal Service teammate Frankie Andreu, the disgraced cyclist summoned him to a room around 2004 in a bid to persuade him to convince his wife Betsy to sign a statement retracting her claim that Armstrong told doctors treating him for cancer that he’d taken steroids, human growth hormone, cortisone and EPO. The Andreus have insisted they were in the Indiana hospital room in 1996 when Armstrong made the confession. The hospital admission was first reported publicly in a 2004 book co-written by Irish journalist David Walsh, titled L.A. Confidentiel, which was only published in French. According to Frankie’s sworn affidavit from October last year, Walsh gave a radio interview around the time of the 2004 Tour de France — which Armstrong later won — in which he said Betsy was “willing to testify to and back him up regarding the hospital room confession.” He recalled, “after that, Lance called me to his room to discuss the situation. He told me that Bill Stapleton (Armstrong’s agent) wanted to talk to me about the hospital room and have my wife sign a statement of support for Lance saying the hospital incident did not happen.
“His girlfriend at the time, Sheryl Crow, was in the room and I felt uncomfortable talking about this in front of her so I did not say much,” he added, in a signed affidavit submitted to investigators. The revelation is the first time that Crow, 50, has been directly implicated in Armstrong’s doping conspiracy. The pair dated from 2003 until 2006, when they broke off their engagement. During the relationship, Armstrong rode in the Tour de France twice — and won both times. Crow has never spoken publicly about the matter, though the Wall Street Journal has claimed two sources have said she knew a lot about the doping situation. Betsy Andreu also remembered the incident and detailed it in her own affidavit submitted to anti-drugs investigators. The radio interview, she said, “triggered a new round of actions by Lance and his reprenstatives” against her. “Frankie was summoned to Lance’s room by a mechanic who said Lance wanted to speak with him. “Frankie went to the room. Lance told him that Bill Stapleton and Bart Knaggs (another Armstrong associate) wanted to talk to him about the hospital incident and craft a statement for me to say it never happened. “Lance’s then girlfriend, Sheryl Crow, was in the room and Frankie did not not want to discuss this in front of her. “Frankie called me right away and told me what happened.” When asked by Oprah Winfrey during Thursday's broadcast whether he still denied the hospital incident, Armstrong only said that he would not talk about it.In September last year, Crow told Katie Couric how she found it difficult watching her former fiance stripped of his Tour de France titles. “I felt bad,” she said. “I felt bad for him, I felt bad for his family and I kinda felt like the rest of America… He is a hero that we watched and looked up to and admired.” |
