What’s Yours is Mine: Khloe Borrows Kim’s Louis Vuitton Bag (PHOTOS) Posted: 31 Jan 2013 11:14 AM PST Thanks, Kim! Months after viewers watched Kim Kardashian and boyfriend Kanye West clear out her closet — including an accessory West called "a dog bag" — during an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, the designer “dog bag” has resurfaced … on the arm of Khloe Kardashian. On Wednesday, the X Factor co-host was spotted carrying her big sister's limited edition 2008 Louis Vuitton fur-trimmed bag at Los Angeles International Airport, where Khloe caught a flight to New York City. "Flight was delayed but we are in NYC! Have to be up early for Good Morning America! Long day tomorrow! Muah," Kardashian wrote on Twitter after landing in the Big Apple. The bag, which retails for more than $3,000, wasn't the only Kim hand-me-down to make its way to the 28-year-old reality TV star. It seems that Khloe has also inherited her sister's black Givenchy fold-over wedge boots — first spotted on Kim last summer during a getaway in Hawaii with West. While Kim seems more than happy to share her designer duds with her sisters, don’t expect the clothing exchange to go the other way. And it’s not just because Kim recently replenished her closet during a shopping trip in Paris. While Khloe clearly doesn’t mind wearing her sister’s hand-me-downs (and who would when they’re Kim’s designer duds?), her generous sister doesn’t feel the same — at least not when it comes to dressing her future offspring. The mom-to-be said she doesn’t plan to be taking too many hand-me-downs from Kourtney‘s trendy tots during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! with Kourtney this week. “I think she has a few key pieces,” Kim said when the host asked if her sister would be passing down Mason and Penelope Disick‘s clothes to their cousin, “but if anyone knows Kanye, they just know how into fashion he is and I think he's going to have things, like, specially made. So I don't think hand-me-downs are going to work. I think it has to be, like, just really fun stuff." And that “fun stuff” may include Kim’s favorite clothing item — aka leather pants — the mom-to-be joked when Kimmel asked if baby Kimye would be wearing her signature bottoms to which the late-night host teased: “Leather pants? Wow, imagine crapping in something that expensive!” In all seriousness, what’s your take on hand-me-downs? Are you with all for taking your sibling’s unwanted duds like Khloe — or only if the hand-me-downs were coming from Kim Kardashian’s closet? Dish below! |
Beyonce to Press: Boo, Yah! I Can Sing Live (VIDEO) Posted: 31 Jan 2013 01:07 PM PST On Thursday, Beyonce Knowles shut down any criticism that still lingers from lip-sync-gate after last week's inauguration ceremony for President Barack Obama. During a press conference ahead of Sunday's Super Bowl performance, Beyonce surprised press by asking them to stand. She then launched into a live performance of the national anthem. And it was pretty flawless. After the performance, clearly feeling vindicated, Beyonce asked, "Any questions?"And, of course, the first reporter asked her to address the controversy of using a backing track during the inauguration ceremony. "I am a perfectionist. And one thing about me, I practice until my feet bleed," she answered. Citing weather conditions and time constraints that kept her from rehearsing with the orchestra, Beyonce explained, "I did not feel comfortable taking a risk… [It's not about me], it was about the President and the country." The singer also confirmed that she will be watching her time management and will attend rehearsals in order to “definitely” perform live during the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday.Watch Beyonce's surprise performance above. Makeup-Free Courtney Stodden Busts Out in Giant Black Bikini (PHOTOS) Posted: 31 Jan 2013 01:07 PM PST Even when she’s relaxing at her home, Courtney Stodden sure knows how to make a very big impression. The infamous teen bride — who shot to fame in 2011 when she married actor Doug Hutchison at the age of 16 — had cameras snapping like crazy when she stepped outside for a relaxing couple of hours in the sun at her home in Los Angeles. Stodden, 18, donned a gigundo black bikini for the occasion, and flipped through the pages of a book of pin-ups as she protected herself from the sun under a giant tan sunhat. The photo-op was a rare moment for Stodden, who ditched her signature bombshell look for a little makeup-free action. Still, this being Courtney Stodden, that didn’t stop her from putting on some platform heels as she took her dog, Dourtney (yes, that’s Doug and Courtney, combined), for a walk. And then later, this still being Courtney Stodden, she went ahead and gazed out into the distance on an upstairs ledge, where she presumably thought about, well … Anyway. Stodden has been all over Celebuzz over the last few weeks, as the premiere date for the music video for her hit single ‘Reality’ quickly approaches. For a behind the scenes look at ‘Reality,’ watch the video, below. |
What Happens at ‘Anderson Live’ When the Cameras Aren’t Rolling (PHOTOS) Posted: 31 Jan 2013 11:20 AM PST “Sit up. Fix your hair. Suck it in,” comedienne Dena Blizzard, better known as One Funny Mother, suggests to the studio audience as the producers count down the cameras. And 3, 2, 1…and we’re rolling. As the audience rises from its seats with a round of applause, Anderson Cooper and his co-host of the day, Stacy London, stride onto the Anderson Live set, settle in to their posts, and dive right into the episode’s First 15. Talk hops from the hot dog, beer and peanuts-flavored Ballpark Gum, to the dapperly-dressed Menswear Dog, to a love note between two smitten 8th grade students, and to Unicorn Poop cookies. Following the fun fluff, it’s on to Anderson Live Alert about revenge porn, a growing phenomenon that sees scorned exes post sexually-explicit photos of their former girlfriends or wives on websites. After hearing from two victims and their lawyer, Anderson brings in a legal expert as he speaks over the phone to the webmaster — who shields his identity with an alias and distorted voice — who operates the porn site. The show wraps up on a lighter note, with the always-affable Today co-host Hoda Kotb dishing on her new book, 10 Years Later, which chronicles how adversity transformed the lives of six inspiring individuals, and the highlights of her career — winning an Emmy, a Murrow and of course, getting Anderson drunk. But what shakes down on the set of Anderson Live when the cameras aren’t rolling? Before, during and after taping each episode, there’s plenty of smiles, laughter and memory-making shared among the team. As Anderson prepares for show in his private quarters (where spiffy suits seem to line the walls), the show’s guests are graciously escorted into their dedicated dressing room at CBS Studios, where some snacks, water, a television and a release form await them. Before long, an Anderson Live team member leads each to the land of the glam squad, where Kristi whips hair into masterpieces and Travis works his makeup magic. All along, producers bounce around, briefing the Blogger of the Day and prepping guests for their specific segments. Before descending a few floors to the set, the audio team straps a mic pack to the waistbands of all on-air participants, asking for a speedy sound check before giving them the green light. Under the bright spotlights of the studio, a center-stage perch awaits Anderson, his co-host of the day and guests, as executive producer Terence Noonan and his trust pet pooch, Nico, settle into the side-stage setup, which broadcasts a steady stream of Anderson Live-related tweets on a display board. The studio audience is already settled into the cushioned seats, chuckling at the wisecracks of Dena Blizzard, the comedienne charged with warming up the crowd each taping.Even after the episode gets under way, commercial breaks provide a breather: producers pop on and off to provide Anderson with notes and props; the hair-and-makeup team dash in to tend to touch-ups on both the hosts and guests; and Dena calls for impromptu dance-offs among the studio audience. After it’s all a wrap, Anderson scurries over to his in-studio photo booth, where he snaps candid shots with his guests, audience members and the Blogger of the Day before disappearing down the halls. As the staff swiftly tidies up the set, guests are ushered back up to the dressing rooms to pick up their personal belongings. Then it’s ta-ta (for now), as each is chaperoned to an awaiting car service just outside of CBS studios. To see the experience from beginning to end, scan through the gallery, above. |
‘Do No Harm’ Star Hopes You Hate Yourself for Loving Ian Posted: 31 Jan 2013 11:44 AM PST Jason Cole or Ian Price? A brilliant neurosurgeon or his charming, manipulative alter ego? That's the choice audiences will have to make when they tune in on Thursday to the premiere of NBC's new series, Do No Harm, starring Steven Pasquale. "What actor wouldn't love to have the acting smorgasbord that is getting to take on two violently different personalities?" Pasquale asks. On the new show, he plays Jason Cole who, as with Dr. Jekyll in Robert Louis Stevenson'sclassic novella, turns into the reprehensible but alluring alter ego, Ian Price, every night at precisely 8:25. Unlike Mr. Hyde, Price isn't quite the embodiment of evil, but is bent on throwing obstacles in the path of Dr. Cole.Rounding out the cast of Do No Harm are Phylicia Rashad as Dr. Young, the head of neurosurgery at the hospital where Cole works, and Alana de la Garza as Dr. Solis, a co-worker in love with both Jason and Ian, who is clueless to his bifurcated nature. "What we really wanted to experiment with in Do No Harm is rather than the classic Jekyll and Hyde sort of version where one's a monster and one's not, it's two guys where there's a lot more gray area so that all of the other characters in the show – the tension comes from when they're interacting with Jason/Ian, and they don't know who they're dealign with," explained Pasquale. "We're hoping the audience falls in love with Ian, and then hates themselves for it." That might not be as hard as it sounds. Pasquale employs no prosthetics or cgi to make the transition from one character to the other, but relies heavily on physical contortions. "All of those scenes are difficult to shoot in that, for no other reason, they give me back cramps," he griped. "It involves a lot of shaking and intense amounts of body shivering, so it's not so easy on the back and neck." A veteran of stage and television, Pasquale is best known for portraying Sean Garrity on the hit series, FX’s Rescue Me, that show's main source of levity. So, what's he doing in the lead role of a thriller?"I played a completely comic relief character on Rescue Me for such a long time that I was really itching to get back to doing something dramatic," he explained. Pasquale first became known to TV audiences playing a love interest to David in HBO's Six Feet Under, and went on to star as surgeon Dr. Bellows on last year's A&E mini-serie, Coma. So, maybe the leap from comedy to thriller is not such a great one after all. According to Pasquale, he was destined to find himself in someone else's shoes from a very young age. "I was just a kid who liked to imagine what it would be like to be someone else," he recalled. "It's crazy, but you know what, an actor's life for me." Do No Harm premieres Thursday at 10PM on NBC. |
Unexplained Injury: 1D’s Zayn Malik Nurses Bandaged Hand (PHOTOS) Posted: 31 Jan 2013 09:24 AM PST Get well soon, Zayn Malik. The One Direction star inexplicably sported some heavy bandages on his right hand as he arrived for rehearsals with his bandmates Wednesday afternoon in London. Wincing in pain, the “Kiss You” singer stepped out of a car while carefully tending to his swollen and bruised fingers. It’s been a troubling time for the British superstar. Just days before his injury, Malik has been the subject of scathing headlines in the U.K. after he allegedly bedded an Australian waitress behind his girlfriend’s back. Malik has been dating Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards since last year, but their relationship may have been tarnished for good — the waitress, Courtney Webb, snapped photos of Malik in bed hours after meeting at lavish party held in his London abode, all while Edwards was on tour with Little Mix. "I definitely don't think it's the first time he's done this. I feel sorry for Perrie — she doesn't know this is going on. It's wrong and has to stop,” Webb told The Sun. A day after the scandal surfaced, Malik and Edwards reportedly met up to patch things up, spending all of Sunday together talking in an Nottingham, U.K. hotel. On Monday, Edwards flashed a smile as she took center stage with her bandmates during a fun-filled concert.Malik is gearing up for the February kick-off of 1D’s massive Take Me Home tour, which will take the boy band to the U.K., U.S. and Canada. Tell us: What do you think of Zayn’s dating drama? Should he and Perrie breakup for good? |

Deena Cortese Wants to Be on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Posted: 31 Jan 2013 01:07 PM PST From the Jersey Turnpike to the ballroom dancefloor? That’s exactly what Deena Cortese is hoping to accomplish. The former Jersey Shore star is currently on a mission to join the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars — a dream, she says, that was inspired by her longtime passion for dancing. “I’ve been dancing since I was little,” she told Celebuzz this week. “I know everybody’s seen me Jersey Turnpike on the Jersey Shore but I actually have a bigger passion than just Jersey Turnpiking. I love dancing. Dancing is one of the things I love to do for exercise, or just to get my mind off of things and relieve stress. To have an opportunity to do something like this would be amazing.” But will it actually happen? “I’m pretty sure my name is on the table,” she said, when asked if she’s been in talks with the show. “I know that one of my agencies actually spoke to them, so hopefully I get a spot.” If cast, Cortese wouldn’t be the first Jersey Shore alum to join the show; her former co-star, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, competed during season 11, and was eliminated after four weeks. “I thought Mike did really great,” Cortese said. “He did his own thing but I would bring my own flavor. I think that I could make it to the end. I’ve been dancing forever, so I think I could definitely make it further.“ “I definitely think I could win,” she added. In her many years on The Jersey Shore, Cortese had her fair share of outrageous moments. But is she ready to take on the sequin and spandex that comes with Dancing?“I would love to wear, like a big flamingo thing or something. The more outrageous, the better.” Dancing With the Stars premieres March 18 on ABC. |
Posted: 31 Jan 2013 11:14 AM PST Baby on board, indeed. At around four months pregnant, Kim Kardashian is staying committed to keeping fit with a trip to a Los Angeles gym on Wednesday evening. Getting ready to work up a sweat, the reality star flaunted her burgeoning belly in a tight tank top, grey hoodie and form-fitting black pants. “Was so lazy but had to get that workout in!” Kardashian tweeted. “I’m so not a night workout person.”
Kardashian’s exercise regimen has been on full force since beau Kanye West announced her pregnancy in December. Days after the good news, the 32-year-old was spotted at famed trainer Tracy Anderson‘s gym for an intense workout session. “I like to mix up my workouts. Sometimes I go to Barry's Bootcamp with friends or by myself. Other times I work out with Gunnar Peterson as my trainer, so it just depends on my mood,” she told Celebuzz in August. Kim’s dedication to keeping fit even influenced and big sister Kourtney to keep off the pounds during her pregnancy. “If she [Kim] wasn't scheduling the workouts, I probably wouldn't have been as motivated,” she told Us Weekly. On Tuesday evening, Kardashian stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live and revealed her plans to keep her first child off the airwaves. “The baby is not going to be on our show,” she revealed. “When he or she decides that’s what they want to do, then that will be a decision.” “From the start, as of now, that’s just a personal choice that Kanye and I have made,” she added. “We’re going to try to keep it as private as possible.” Launch the gallery to check out Kim’s baby bump! Then, watch the video, below, to hear Kim talk about her baby’s future. |
Stefan Relishes in Damon’s Predicament on ‘Vampire Diaries’ (PHOTOS & VIDEO) Posted: 31 Jan 2013 07:39 AM PST Things are bad between the Salvatore brothers on The CW's The Vampire Diaries, like really bad. Of course, when one brother sleeps with another's ex — who just might be compelled to do so — you know the other is going to have a problem with it. So on last week's episode when Damon (Ian Somerhalder) was compelled by Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) to kill Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen), it gave Stefan (Paul Wesley) the perfect opportunity to get some revenge for the sake of the cure. He bled out his brother and threw him in their house's cell. Now, a new clip from this week's episode, "A View to a Kill," shows that Stefan will enjoy Damon's predicament for at least a little bit longer.
After enlisting Klaus (Joseph Morgan) to look after his older brother while he gets a dagger from Rebekah (Claire Holt), he tells the original, "Give him a vial of blood every few hours so he doesn't desiccate. If he gets his strength back or if he just annoys you, bleed him out again." Ouch, Stefan. Klaus, of course, can't let their conversation end without telling Damon that he caught Stefan sneaking away from Rebekah's bed that morning. "Well, well, looks like my brother ripped out a page of my revenge sex handbook," Damon snarks at the news. To which Stefan replies, "Why don't you two enjoy your villain bonding time?" And it looks like they just might as the episode's official description says Klaus will ask Damon for some personal advice.Thursday's episode of TVD will also feature Stefan making it up to Rebekah for missing yet another school dance. Can we all say, “Awww”? You can watch a clip from "A View to a Kill" above. The Vampire Diaries airs Thursdays at 8PM on The CW. What do you think about Klaus looking after Damon? What advice do you think he'll ask for? Are you excited to see more Rebekah and Stefan? Let us know in the comments below! |
Introducting ‘The Host’ Hunk Ian O’Shea (EXCLUSIVE VIDEO) Posted: 31 Jan 2013 09:49 AM PST Although the Twilight saga wrapped up in 2012 with the release of Breaking Dawn – Part 2, author Stephenie Meyer isn't resting on her laurels or wondering what she'll do next. Her next project, The Host, arrives in theaters on March 29, and she hopes to recreate to sort of fervor her previous project generated – complete with two new hunks for her female fans to go crazy for. In a new featurette exclusive to Celebuzz, fans get their first in-depth look at Ian O'Shea (Jake Abel), one of the two leading men (opposite Max Irons) competing for the attention of Melanie Stryder (Saoirse Ronan) against the backdrop of the film's dystopian future. Abel offers some insights about who his character is, and what he wants – that is, until Stryder shakes up all of his expectations.
"The group I'm a part of is what we believe to be the last pocket of human resistance," he reveals of his circumstances at the beginning of the film. "[They are] living in the mountains and surviving, barely, day to day." Abel says that Stryder presents a threat to the safety and security of the group he's a part of, but he soon discovers that there's more to her than he initially assumes. "When this stranger enters, I think she's got to go," Abel says. "But the more I get to know her, the more I see she's more human than humans are – her generosity, her care, her kindness." Given Meyer's pedigree, The Host arrives in theaters with enormous expectations – both from fans of the Twilightbook series, and critics of its film adaptations. But Abel insists that the film will appeal to everyone, whether or not you know (or like) her previous work."I think people who are fans of he previous books and films can easily transfer into this," he says. "But I think it's also its own entity – it's something completely different. It's something that hasn't really been done before – and that's exciting to us." The Host opens in theaters nationwide on March 29. Watch the film's theatrical trailer, and then let us know in the comments below – how excited are you to see Stephenie Meyer's latest? |

Cobie Smulders Leaves ‘Safe Haven’ Parodies to ‘SNL’ Star Husband (VIDEO) Posted: 31 Jan 2013 10:29 AM PST Although she's currently commanding the big screen as one of the co-stars of the romantic drama Safe Haven, Cobie Smulders established a solid comedic pedigree on TV as a member of the ensemble cast of How I Met Your Mother. But the actress says she defers to her husband, Saturday Night Live star Taran Killam, when time comes to parody the movies in which she appears. "Taran is much better at coming up with sketch ideas than I am," she tells Celebuzz. "For me, I'd be like, yeah, you could do a parody of this movie. But he would go, let's do a musical version, and then we could do puppets! He's just so much more creative in that respect."
That said, Smulders isn't without her own ideas for sketches. "I did actually have one great idea I pitched to Vanessa [Bayer]," she confesses. "The Long Island Psychic — anything where you could see that character being blown up and kind of zany.""I'm like, you should do that on the show! They're so great!" Watch Celebuzz' exclusive interview with Smulders above to see whether or not her idea made it to the air. And then let us know in the comments section below: what would be a good parody for the actress' latest movie? |
1D Clown Around for U.K.’s Red Nose Day (PHOTO) Posted: 31 Jan 2013 09:18 AM PST One Direction is clowning around for a good cause. The British boy band put on their best “Red Noses” in a photo shoot for Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day campaign, which kicks off in the U.K. on March 15. Earlier this month, the boys began their charity work with a trip to the African nation of Ghana, where they visited local school children in the impoverished town of Accra. “We've seen appeal film before, so we thought we knew what it's like. But when you're there and you get the smells, your eyes hurt from the smoke, you cough, you're feeling it all,” Styles told The Sun. Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan are also set to debut their single for the charitable event — a cover of Blondie’s classic hit, “One Way Or Another” — at the Brit Awards on Feb. 12. The fivesome’s humbling visit to Ghana will air in a film during Red Nose Day, while joining a slew of other British celebrities, including Jessie J, during the annual telecast. “We recorded Blondie’s ‘One Way or Another,’ and we really want the song to raise lots of money and for people to show their support by going out and buying themselves a copy,” Horan said. The single hit U.K.’s iTunes store on Tuesday, and all proceeds will go to charity. As they prepare to hit the road for their upcoming tour in February, the boys shared the life-changing impact of their visit. “It kind of put things into perspective for me, just in like in everyday life you have like little problems that we think are so major, and then you go over there and you actually see people that are actually dealing with real problems,” Malik said during an appearance on British morning show Daybreak on Thursday morning. Added Styles: “We went out there not knowing what to expect, but we came back thinking it was the best thing we’d ever done.” Tell us: Have you heard 1D’s newest single for Red Nose Day? What do you think of it? Sound off in the comments. |

Watch: Queen B Readies for Super Bowl Show (VIDEO) Posted: 31 Jan 2013 12:59 PM PST Forget the touchdown — it’s the countdown to Queen B at center stage. With just days to go before Beyoncé graces the Super Bowl stage to headline the halftime show, the pop star treated fans to a sneak peek at her preparations for Sunday's big performance with a behind-the-scenes video. With her hit “Countdown” playing over spliced together scenes, the clip spotlights Bey breaking it down with her band of well-heeled back-up dancers. Between slow-motion shots of all the shimmying, the Grammy-winning singer is seen staying in stride with her choreographer. Though Beyoncé hasn’t dished on the details of her show — but has teased the performance with photos — a leaked set list suggests a the superstar will surprise with a Destiny’s Child reunion. But given that Michelle Williams wouldn’t confirm such speculation, DC3 fans will have to wait to see if she and Kelly Rowland join Queen B when she descends upon New Orleans’ Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Feb. 3.On the heels of offering fans a sample of what to expect Super Bowl Sunday, Beyoncé will meet with the media in New Orleans as she previews her halftime performance. Though much of the press conference will primarily focus on her football gig, it will still mark the first time Bey has spoken publicly since it was alleged that she lip-synched her rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" at President Barack Obama's inauguration. While she may stay mum on the lip-sync scandal, perhaps Beyoncé will be forced to address the question on everyone’s mind as game day fast approaches: Will she sing live at the Super Bowl?Either way, after her highly-anticipated performance this weekend — which will be perhaps the biggest audience of her career to date — Beyoncé will return to the small screen when she debuts her HBO documentary, Life is But a Dream, set to air on Feb. 16. Don't forget to tune into the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday, Feb. 3, on CBS. |
Top 10 Things We’ll Miss About Liz Lemon Posted: 31 Jan 2013 07:32 AM PST For seven seasons on NBC’s 30 Rock Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) has been both an inspiring role model and a somewhat cautionary tale. Everyone’s favorite feminist nerd may have wanted to have it all, but she had a whole lot of issues to overcome first. When we think of good ole Elizabeth Miervaldis Lemon, it is those issues that always first come to mind over her triumphs — though both provided for hearty laughs. From her false pregnancy reading after consuming way too much Sabor de Soledad, to returning to her high school only to learn she was the original Mean Girl, to her being bummed by the word “lovers” (unless it’s between the words “meat” and “pizza,” of course), Liz always made us feel better about our own relationship, professional, and “bathing suit area” problems. What will Celebuzz miss most about Liz Lemon? Read on for our Top 10 list!
1. Her love of sandwiches and willingness to use them as a metaphor for just about anything. We never thought we’d meet a television character who loved sandwiches more than Friends‘ Joey Tribbiani, but Liz Lemon could give him a run for his money in that kind of culinary devotion. She may have never tried to “save” a sandwich from assumed gunfire, but she did effectively choose a sandwich over a guy when she brought her special Teamster sandwich to the airport. Unable to bring it through security because the container of sauce was more than three ounces, she debated chasing down what ended up not being her dream guy anyway, instead trying to scarf it on the spot so she wouldn’t have to give up the kind of love that never let her down = food love. 2. Her own lexicon. This is, of course, as much Fey’s triumph as it is her fictional Liz’s, but like Saturday Night Live and Mean Girls before it, 30 Rock gave us a number of quotable phrases easily adapted into everyday life by those of us just trying to be like Liz Lemon. “Blerg” is the most obvious; even Anne Hathaway used it when accepting her Golden Globe this year. But, “I want to go to there” has become a thing, too. As has “nerds” as an expression of emotion and “ham napkin,” which has been expanded from just being wedding dress slang to include a number of kinds of clothing options. 3. The parade of terrible choices in men and the part of her that wasn’t willing to settle. Starting as early as childhood, Liz was always practical to a fault about her romantic options. Her pretend wedding to Saul Rosenbear had her sharing her special day with her new stepson, after all! And then the list just declined from there — dummy Dennis who thought technology was cyclical; The Hair who turned out to be her distant cousin; the coffee-delivery guy, Jamie, whose mother she too greatly resembled…; all the way to attractive Doctor Drew who lived in his own bubble of stupidity; and Wesley, who she simply hated. With each (funny but) bad relationship that she sent kicking to the curb, eventually for good, her own self-esteem seemed to bolster for the next guy. She even got to date her equivalent of an astronaut (a pilot), but when he turned not to be quite as she imagined, she didn’t settle for him either. 4. Her forever (though unlikely) friendship with Jenna.Let’s face it, we all have people in our lives who are kind of only still around because we’ve known them for so long, it’s just easier to keep them around, right? Maybe, we had a lot in common when we were younger (in Liz and Jenna’s case, they shared a common goal of wanting to break down barriers for women in comedy), but as time went on and we matured individually, we drifted apart. If Liz and Jenna met each other today, we have no doubt they’d hate each other. But there is something so sweet about them sticking by each other for as long as they have. Remember when they did that magazine cover and Jenna tried to warn Liz not to use the props because the funny photo is always the one they’ll use, embarrassing the crap out of you? That’s a kind of help she wouldn’t share with just anyone!5. Her ample appropriation of pop culture for her own personal and sometimes selfish purposes. When Liz found out Jack (Alec Baldwin) had three possible fathers, she got oh-so excited at the possibility of a Mamma Mia. She willingly disguised herself as the Joker from Batman in order to clear out subway cars and movie theaters and have private experiences. She dressed as Princess Leia (complete with buns and deep voice) to avoid jury duty. She has taken our own love of pop culture so much farther than simple costumes at Halloween time! 6. The terrible TGS sketches. Let’s be honest: the kind of sketches TGS has aired that have kept them on the air for 100+ episodes are kind of a commentary on how devoid of quality programming NBC is. “Bear Versus Killer Robots” technically may have been more Frank (Judah Friedlander), but what about “Bear and Robot Talk Show” or “Pam, the Overly Confident/Morbidly Obese Woman?” They’re so bad you just have to laugh and enjoy them. Just don’t think too hard about them or you may start to question Liz’s judgement for airing them. 7. Her anti-Carrie Bradshaw everything. Sure, she dressed up as Princess Leia to get out of jury duty, but she also wore her Leia dress as her wedding dress. Liz always knew who she was, and she was always unabashedly and unapologetically a nerd. She made it OK for everyone who didn’t want to prance around Manhattan in insanely impractical high heels and belly-bearing shirts to be okay with it, because she went so far in the other direction. She wore a Slanket at her desk, not because it was product placement but because she just liked it. And on laundry days, she wore her bathing suit because she was out of clean underwear. She celebrated the weird things women do, but rarely want to talk about.8. Her righteous indignation. Who else would buy up all the hot dogs from a street cart just because some “wang” had formed a second line, and she wanted only to reward the “good people” in the real line? 9. The fact that we’ll never get to see what Liz’s kid(s) will be like or how much of an influence she’ll have on Liddy. When Jack realized he was kind of old to be having a baby and therefore might not be around to see the kid through the tough times in life, he made a series of videos to teach the kid all he thought was important. Of course, that was when he thought he was having a boy. Then he learned the baby was a girl, and he enlisted Liz’s help. Personally, we’ll miss simply getting to hear her attempt to impart her wisdom on her friends and co-workers every week, but being able to shape a complete, new life, too? We want to go to there! 10. And of course, her judgmental but oh-so-perfect eye roll. ‘Nuff said. The one-hour 30 Rock series finale airs Thursday at 8PM on NBC. What will you miss most about Liz Lemon? The A-List Go ‘Alkaline’ — The Diet Everyone Is Raving About Posted: 30 Jan 2013 08:39 PM PST Move aside Atkins and South Beach. There’s a new diet fad taking over Tinseltown: The Alkaline Diet. Sure, the name sounds more like something for batteries than weight loss, but it’s actually way more normal than some of the other diet trends made popular by Tinsletown’s tiniest (Beyonce‘s cayenne cleanse comes to mind). Marjorie Nolan, RD, an American Dietetic Association spokeswoman agrees: “It’s a diet of fresh fruits and vegetables, plenty of water, avoiding processed foods, coffee, and alcohol, which are all recommendations for a generally healthy diet anyway,” Nolan told WebMD. While there aren’t any gimmicks, this diet does take some discipline. Not surprisingly, stars known for their healthy diets, including Victoria Beckham, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston are among the A-listers who swear by the Alkaline Diet. Want to try it? Here’s what else you need to know about the Alkaline Diet.
The plan is based on the idea that maintaining an ideal pH level is necessary for optimum overall health, and your pH level — which determines how acidic of alkaline you are — is determined by what you eat. Based on that premise, the goal of the diet is to maintain an ideal pH level of 7.35 to 7.45 by limiting acidic foods to just 30 percent of your diet and loading up on high-alkaline food — aka mostly fresh fruit and veggies. Alkaline-promoting foods, including soy products, certain nuts, grains, and legumes, are also okay. The bad news? Acid-promoting foods such as meat, fish, poultry, and dairy products are prohibited. In other words, prepare to go quasi-vegetarian. Also not allowed are sugary and processed foods, as well as caffeine, all of which are considered highly acidic. But according to its proponents, giving up these acidic foods is a small price to pay for the benefits. The diet has been purported to do everything from slowing the aging process and preventing cancer to aiding in weight loss.Still, the science behind the diet’s claims isn’t clear. A 2012 report, published in the Journal of Environmental and Public Health gave the diet mixed reviews for its effectiveness. While Nolan concedes the plan is pretty healthy overall, she isn’t convinced of the pH-balancing premise behind the diet. “Our body regulates our pH between 7.35 and 7.45 no matter how we eat,” Nolan told WebMD. “Clinical studies have proved without a doubt that people who eat more fresh fruits and vegetables and hydrate properly do have lower rates of cancer and other diseases, but it probably has nothing to do with blood pH.” While the diet may not have science supporting its claims, it continues to have Hollywood’s backing. Beckham even makes her family healthy meals from the Alkaline cookbook, Honestly Healthy. “Love this healthy eating cookbook!! X,” the wife of soccer star David Beckham tweeted on Jan. 11, along with a picture of Honestly Healthy. Interested in jumping on the Alkaline band wagon too? ‘Believe’ It: Biebs is Making History Posted: 31 Jan 2013 07:47 AM PST If all goes accordingly, Justin Bieber has another No. 1 album on the horizon. Since dropping on Tuesday, the teen pop prince’s Believe Acoustic has been soaring in sales, with industry sources estimating the collection could move between 180,000 and 190,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, Feb. 3., according to Billboard. That is expected to secure Bieber the No. 1 slot on the Billboard 200. If Believe Acoustic does land atop the Billboard 200 when chart is revealed on Feb. 6., Bieber will make history — twice over. For one, the singer-songwriter would become the only artist to have five No. 1 albums before turning 19, following his four previous chart-toppers: My World 2.0 (2010), Never Say Never: The Remixes (2011), Under the Mistletoe (2011) and last year’s Believe. And to add to his accolades, Believe Acoustic nabbing No. 1 could have Bieber join the ranks as one of just 10 acts that have scored a chart-topping album in four consecutive years. But beyond setting records, the pop star feels that another No. 1 is a sign of his promising future."It shows that I'm still making good music and people are supporting me and I'm not going anywhere any time soon," he told Billboard. "This is just an acoustic album of an album that I've already put out, and it's going to go No. 1. That shows people that I'm still here and that talent rises above everything else. There's so much going on. Talent rises above all of that." Just seven months after dropping his third studio album, Believe, Bieber bares his heart in the new acoustic collection. Along with slower-paced, stripped-down versions of nine hit songs from his No. 1 LP, Believe Acoustic also delivers three new tunes: "Yellow Raincoat," "Nothing Like Us," and "I Would." But album sales aren’t the only thing swinging Bieber’s way these days. After pal Lil Twist damaged Bieber’s white Ferrari on New Year’s Day driving out the Four Seasons hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif. — just before a paparazzo was killed in traffic trying to snap a photo of the whip — the pop star’s fancy ride is sitting in a repair shop. While the patch-up would put Bieber back an estimated $8,000 to $10,000, his bank account won’t take a hit at all, as the hotel is footing the bill, according to TMZ. Why would the Four Seasons bother covering the multimillionaire’s car tab? As the hotel sees it, it’s just a small price to pay to maintain the ever-lucrative relationship it has with Bieber. |
