Watch: MTV’s Nikki Glaser Weighs In On ‘Vicious’ Melissa McCarthy Review

Posted: 10 Feb 2013 12:42 PM PST

Fans went nuts earlier this week when New York Observer film critic Rex Reed published a review of Identity Thief, which referred to the movie’s star, Melissa McCarthy, as “tractor-sized” and a “female hippo.”

Co-Host of MTV’s Nikki & Sara Live, Nikki Glaser, stopped by Celebuzz’s The Daily Buzz and we took the opportunity to ask the comedienne what she though of a fellow funny girl being torn apart for her weight in the review. And Glaser came to McCarthy’s defense.

“This is vicious,” says Glaser. “He’s a movie reviewer, this has nothing to do with the movie.”

Disgusted, Glaser believes there might be an ulterior motive for Reed slamming McCarthy, “I think this guy is trying to get attention.”

Glaser pokes fun at celebrities on her show but she says there’s a distinct difference with her brand of comedy.

“I would never make a fat joke on my show, it’s way over the line,” saying fat jokes are easy to make and lack creativity.

Nikki and Sara Live airs Tuesdays at 11PM on MTV.

Watch the interview above.

As a celebrity should McCarthy expect this kind of criticism? Or is it just cruel?

Watch: ‘Shahs Of Sunset’ Star Asa Soltan Rahmati Talks Season 2′s Emotional Finale

Posted: 10 Feb 2013 12:05 PM PST

Asa Soltan Rahmati is reduced to tears on the season 2 finale of Shahs of Sunset, airing Sunday night at 9/8c on Bravo, all in the lead-up to her much-anticipated music festival, Persia Palooza.

“It was a really intense moment for me. It felt like my entire life kind of came down to that moment. It was really crazy,” Rahmati told Celebuzz in an exclusive sit-down chat.

But, as she explains, it was ultimately a good cry in the end.

“I found myself on stage that night, like gold wings and everything,” she said.

It’s been an especially emotional and drama-filled season for Rahmati. In addition to working on her music career, she also had to deal with some personal drama, including a long-gestating feud with her co-star, GG.

So, how did everything play out when the cast reunited in January to film the show’s reunion?

“Honestly, the reunion was crazy. It was a lot of everything – a lot of fun, a lot of tears, tons of drama, a lot of fighting. Really intense stuff,” she said.  “Some things got resolved, some things didn’t.”

What Are The Pros And Cons Of Playing A Zombie Killer?

Posted: 10 Feb 2013 12:58 PM PST

The Walking Dead Season 2 stills promo photos pictures

Lauren Cohan will never be able to eat Greek yogurt ever again. Not since Maggie Greene, her character on AMC’s The Walking Dead, had to cut a baby out of Lori’s (Sarah Wayne Callies) stomach. It turns out that Greek yogurt is an excellent stand in for the gelatinous quality of afterbirth.

"We used 2-week-old babies and in between takes they covered the babies with yogurt and strawberry jam for blood," she explained to Celebuzz. "Now, I can't eat yogurt anymore and I used to love it!"

The 30-year-old actress says playing a zombie killer is "pretty good, it definitely beats playing a zombie.”

She says the success of the show isn't surprising because, "it's such an amazing show," but she is astounded by the intense devotion it engenders from fans.

"I'm definitely overwhelmed and excited by how universally well received it is. It doesn't seem to matter what country it is, people seem to relate to the story. The Philippines, Brazil, Australia, Japan, everybody seems to be touched in similar ways, which tells us we know we're doing something right."

Even though Cohan was born in New Jersey, she speaks with a posh British accent — the result of moving to England at age 13.

"It was a huge culture shock," she recalls. "Just wearing school uniforms! But, we moved into a big old house that had been divided and we shared a garden and a pet cemetery. Can you think of anything cooler as a child than moving into an old manor that has a pet cemetery? You're living in the fantasy world of the books that you read as a kid. It definitely made up for any awkward teenage changes."

And as for what's in store for Maggie the zombie slayer? "We definitely see a collision between the government people and us at the prison and that's going to be really scary for Maggie and Glen,” she previewed.

“I mean I had to cut a baby out of Lori's stomach and then she died!”

Kate Middleton Goes Babymooning (VIDEO)

Posted: 10 Feb 2013 10:09 AM PST

Looks like we'll be seeing more of Kate Middleton and that growing baby bump.

Earlier this week, St. James Palace announced that the Duchess will take part in a royal engagement on Feb. 19 — her second public appearance since announcing her baby news.

Middleton, 31, will mingle with staff and volunteers at Hope House, a women's substance abuse treatment center.

Another big royal headline of the week focused on the Duchess' vacation with her husband Prince William and members of the Middleton family.

The group is currently "babymooning" at the private island of Mustique, according to several reports.

Meanwhile, King Richard III can finally rest in peace. On Monday, a team of scientists announced that his remains, which were discovered underneath a parking lot in England, indeed belonged to the famous ruler thanks to DNA evidence.

How Will The Manhunt For Cop Killer Christopher Dorner Affect Grammy Security?

Posted: 10 Feb 2013 09:46 AM PST

The show will go on, but will the Grammys beef up on extra security?

With big names like Rihanna, Beyonce Knowles and Johnny Depp all expected to attend Sunday's Grammy Awards, much attention has been diverted to the ongoing search for Christopher Dorner, the ex-LAPD officer accused of killing three people.

The search, which has taken hundreds of cops to the San Bernardino Mountains and several other states, has no doubt reshuffled the staff at the LAPD, but spokespersons from both the Grammys and the LAPD have remained mum on any major changes in security.

"We have a very significant presence at the Grammys each year and will play an important role in event security this year," Lt. Andy Neiman told the L.A. Times.

Prior to his killing rampage, Dorner, who was fired from the LAPD in 2008, released a manifesto containing information on who he was planning to kill and celebrities he had admired, including Ellen DeGeneres, Larry David and Christoph Waltz.

According to former LAPD bureau chief John Miller, there is an "anxiety factor" among authorities that is "unbelievable.”

"There will be the Grammys Sunday in Los Angeles, where you will have a major police command post," he told LAist. "I've spoken with people there and their problems are very interesting. One problem is, can they get enough cops to police the Grammys, when they have had everyone out deployed on this?”

A reward has since been offered for anyone with information leading to the capture of Dorner, the LAPD announced Sunday morning.

On Saturday, Charlie Sheen, who was also praised in Dorner's manifesto, released a video message in an effort to "end this thing."

"I am urging you to call me. Let's figure out how to end this thing. Call me, I look forward to talking to you."

The 55th Grammy Awards, hosted by LL Cool J, will be handed out live on Sunday at 8PM ET on CBS.

Do you think the Grammys should have been cancelled in the wake of the manhunt for Christopher Dorner? Weigh in below.

Chris Brown Totals Car After Paparazzi Run-In

Posted: 10 Feb 2013 10:57 AM PST

Chris Brown has made pre-Grammys headlines again — this time, involving his black Porsche and the paparazzi.

On Saturday afternoon, the 23-year-old singer was on his way to a an event for the Symphonic Love Foundation in Los Angeles when the paparazzi began to chase him, causing him to crash and total his vehicle.

"The occupants jumped out, with cameras, and aggressively approached his vehicle . . . in an effort to remove himself from the situation, he began to back down an alley, at which point he was cut off by two additional vehicles," his rep said in a statement obtained by Celebuzz.

The Beverly Hills Police department also confirmed the incident: "Mr. Brown was the driver of the vehicle and collided with a wall. Brown said that he was being chased by paparazzi causing him to lose control of his vehicle. Brown's black Porsche was towed from the scene at his request."

Brown's incident comes just weeks after a photographer was killed while following Justin Bieber's car, also in Los Angeles.

Despite his car trouble on Saturday, Brown was still able to make it to the scheduled event, his rep confirmed.

[UPDATE]

According to Brown’s rep on Sunday morning, there are plans to take legal action against the paparazzi.

“We plan on seeking criminal charges and holding them civilly liable.”

Do you think authorities should be tougher on the paparazzi? Weigh in below.

‘SNL’ Recap: Justin Bieber Mocks Justin Bieber (VIDEOS)

Posted: 10 Feb 2013 10:01 AM PST

Justin Bieber called himself a lesbian, mixed up Valentine's Day and Black History Month and sort of apologized for his recent alleged marijuana use — all in the latest dose of Saturday Night Live.

The first time host, who also served as musical guest, showed off his singing chops on several occasions, starting with the opening monologue.

"I'm so excited to be here hosting Saturday Night Live especially because it's February. Febraury's that special time of year. That romantic time of year . . . you know, Black History Month," he said to an audience of mostly Beliebers.

"It's also Valentine's Day. So we're gonna celebrate them both tonight . . . I'm gonna need to find that one special girl . . . to help me find love and also the great progress African Americans have made in the nation."

The 19-year-old goes on to give roses and deliver incorrect facts (such as Denzel Washington inventing the peanut), before he delivers his last rose to surprise guest Whoopi Goldberg.

For music, the Biebs delivered acoustic versions of "As Long As You Love Me" and his new single "Nothing Like Us."

But perhaps the highlight of the night came during Vanessa Bayer's recurring Miley Cyrus sketch, when Bieber appeared as the former Disney star's fan.

"Miley, you're seriously my favorite singer of all time. You're light years better than that douche Justin Bieber," he says in the bit. "He looks like a lesbian . . . I heard he still has his baby teeth . . . I also heard he got bused for smoking weed and he's really sorry about it and that people make mistakes and he's never gonna do it again."

Meet Jaysolo — You’ll be Glad You Did

Posted: 06 Feb 2013 07:52 PM PST

jaysolo

Let’s have a Meet & Greet, shall we?

Jaysolo is taking the music world by storm with his hit single “Rhythm of the Night.” The recording artist/producer, who has already had the pleasure of working with A-list talent such as Pitbull, Flo Rida, P. Diddy, recently earned the #1 spot on Sirius 20 on 20.

Since we like to stay on top of what’s hot, Celebuzz sat down with the R&B/pop singer, who’s managed by Big Time Rush‘s manager CMI. Read on to find out about Jay’s path to success, his musical inspirations — and what his favorite karaoke song is.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I’m originally from New England, the state of Maine. I’m a writer, producer and artist. That’s pretty much it…I love lobster.

What was the first instrument you played?

I started playing piano. Everything kind of started when I was in chorus. I started in chorus and I was a real hyper kid, so nobody really knew I could sing. I was super duper hyper and the principal begged the chorus teacher to take me on, and finally she did, and it was a funny story. She took me on, and then there was a big school play, and I wanted to try out for the lead in it. And she goes, 'OK, if you sit still, Jay, I will let you audition.’ So I auditioned and I sang, and I think she immediately picked me for the role in the school play. That's where I first started music.

Who were your idols growing up?

Michael Jackson for sure, like, for sure. Boyz II Men. Let’s see what else…I love Coldplay. I’m a huge fan of Coldplay. I love U2 , but Michael was really my real big inspiration. I know people say that, but I’m a Michael fanatic.

Does that mean you can do the moonwalk?

Yeah, I can do the moonwalk! I mean, I’m not amazingly good at it, but I think everybody learned how to moonwalk at some point in their lives.

You’ve become so big lately. How have you increased your fan base to get to where you are now?

I have a great team around me — my manager, agentS. The people around me have really accelerated the record to a really good place. Sometimes, timing is everything, and the people you keep around you, it's what is most important. You could be the most talented kid in the world but if you don't have a good staff of people around you who can take the record and accelerate it, it really does you no justice. My team has been the force behind this record.

Your hit single right now is “Rhythm of the Night” –  a remake of the 1985 hit by DeBarge. How did you decide to remake that song?

I was working with my producer. I'm in a production team with two other guys, Niko the Kidd and a Guy named Lotto. We call ourselves The Other Guys because we’re all obsessed with that movie. We were constantly going around quoting The Other Guys movie because we’re all superobsessed with Will Ferrell, so that’s why we called ourselves The Other Guys.

I’ve always been in love with old ’80s throwback music, and I heard “Rhythm” come on the radio one day and thought it would be so brilliant to redo that into like a dancey kind of record. I just got in there and knocked it out, and I was pretty happy with how it came out. I knew it was a really familiar vibe, and people would be able to pick up on it. You have to make it simple for people. People have to be able to sing a long with it and understand the lyrics. It’s called keeping it simple, I’d say.

Have you gotten any feedback from DeBarge?

Hopefully I’ll get their blessing and they’ll be excited about it.

Do you do your own original songs as well?

I have a very big catalog of music. I produced every single song that I have. That record really stood out, so we decided to go with that right away.

What is the rest of the record like?

The record is very rhythmic, song-driven and melody-driven. It’s very memorable, like when you hear a song and it sticks in your head the first time. I wanted people to hear it and automatically be definitive of who Jaysolo was. Every song has to make you feel, really, like, give you tingles. Sometimes you can buy an album and maybe one or two songs on there are the hits, but I like to do records that you can go through every one of the songs and you’re not going to want to skip through it. I’m not going to say every one is a hit, but I hope so. I really put my heart and soul into doing this record, into what I think people wanted to hear.

Who are people you would want to collaborate with?

I’ve collaborated with Pitbill, Fatman Scoop, and others out there. I really, really, really, really want to work with Kanye [West]. I think he's brilliant. I think he’s completely brilliant. I want to work with Kanye, Jay-Z. I’d love to do something with Coldplay or Maroon 5, or I really really love Travis McCoy. He’s really dope. There’s a bunch of people. Producer-wise, there is Dr. Luke, etc. Kanye would probably be my top pick.

Why Kanye? What could you learn from him?

I think Kanye is the type of guy who hits the mark every time he does a record. I think he’s just brilliant at what he does. Sometimes when you’re an artist, you just need to know how to put records together. I think Kanye is one of those people that literally just understands the dynamics of records, and understands the science of putting records together. He’s just amazing.

What’s your go-to karaoke song?

Journey's "Don't Stop Believing” — you know “Don’t stop believing” (sings). I think that’s everyone’s go-to karaoke song.

What’s the first CD you bought?

Snoop Dogg’s album with “Murder Was the Case.” I brought it home and my mom freaked out.

Is your family supportive of your music?

I grew up in a very small town. My family… when I was a very small kid I was taken away from the state. I came from a very hard life. I don't want people to think, Oh, feel bad for jay, or any of those types of things — because that's not the thing. It actually helped me to become the person I am today, helped me become a fighter. My mom was into drugs and my sister.. I had lot of bad things going on, and the state took me out when I was a kid. So I shuffled between kids' shelters, group homes to, you know, I've seen a lot bad stuff. But in that, I realized that music could really take me out if I really focused on it. I just really made a decision that I wasn't going to live the life I grew up in, and I just stay focused and believe in positivity and believe that in some point, something I made in my life was going to happen regardless of all the bad things I've seen. Luckily, my mom has recovered. But that's a hard thing for a kid to go through, and then all of a sudden go into the music industry.

I’m just now reconnecting with my family, but my mom is really proud of me. She tears up every time she hears my song on the radio. It's a real amazing thing. Its definitely a life-changing thing I've been threw. It helped grow me to the person I am and to understand that what I do comes with a lot of responsibilities and at some point there will be people who look up to me and I have to be a good role model to those people. If those kids have gone through what ive gone through I want them to know you can do anything if you put your mind to it.

What message do you want your fans to get from your music?

I want people to understand that sometimes my music — you can never really point where your life is going to go. As long as every time you get kicked down, you stand back up and you’re a fighter. Good things will happen. It's like a doctor who goes to school for 10-11 years and they get their degree. You work really, really, really, really hard, it’s not hard for you to fail as long as you work really hard, so in my music I’m trying to portray things I’ve been through like real situations, like getting my heart broken or falling in love. Real things. I don't want to be singing about poppin' bottles in the club or riding around with chains and Ferraris, because that stuff isn't personal. It’s lacking and it’s not a very positive message to kids. If I’m going to be an artist people look up to, my music has to portray who I am as a person.

Be sure to listen to Jaysolo’s hit single “Rhythm of the Night.” And check out a video of his biggest inspiration — the King of Pop — below.

This Is What Five Seasons of Meth-Making Can Buy

Posted: 07 Feb 2013 07:45 PM PST

Aaron Paul may have “broke bad” on his hit AMC series about a drug-dealing science teacher, but the actor made sure he didn’t break the bank (completely) on his new Los Angeles home.

The 33-year-old splashed out a mere $1.39 million on a new 2,396 square foot pad located just above Hollywood’s famous Sunset Strip, according to Real Estalker.

The 1930s Spanish-style villa — which was sold last April — features four bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms and, of course, plenty of upgrades suited for one of TV’s biggest breakout stars.

The home’s listing notes that stone tile floors are spread throughout the two-story home, with a central stair hall leading to an open living and dining decorated with dark brown wood floors, wood beams across the ceiling and a stone fireplace.

The main floor also houses  a wet bar and extra bedroom and bathroom, perfect for housing his fiancee Lauren Parsekian‘s visiting relatives.

Bikini-Clad Gisele Bundchen Flaunts Post-Baby Body In Hawaii (PHOTOS)

Posted: 10 Feb 2013 10:01 AM PST

Whoa, mama!

It looks like Gisele Bundchen is already back to her old self — as in, her pre-pregnancy self.

On Friday, the 32-year-old supermodel was spotted showing of her slim figure in Hawaii. And yes, she was wearing a bikini.

Bundchen, who gave birth to her second child Vivian Lake in December, kept a low profile in an oversized brown fedora as she soaked up the sun in a black two-piece.

The Brazilian beauty and her husband Tom Brady are also proud parents to their son, Benjamin, 3.

Despite the new addition to her family, the supermom is already making big waves in the fashion industry this year.

Earlier this week, Chanel announced that Bundchen is the new face of its upcoming Les Beiges makeup line. The campaign, shot by famed celebrity photographer Mario Testino, comes out in March.

Bundchen also graces the double cover of the March issue of German ELLE.

Take That, Critics: ‘Identity Thief’ Grosses $11.2M On First Day

Posted: 09 Feb 2013 02:07 PM PST

A Nor'easter named Nemo and bad reviews didn't stop moviegoers from buying tickets to Identity Thief on Friday.

The comedy starring Melissa McCarthy and Jason Bateman opened to a strong $11.2 million on its first day, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, could finish the weekend on top with $34.8 million.

The film, which gives McCarthy's first starring role since 2011's Bridesmaids, beat out the other newcomer of the weekend Side Effects, which grossed around $3 million.

Despite a star-studded cast that also includes Amanda Peet, Jon Favreau and rapper T.I. Identity Thief has not received the kindest of words from critics.

"Identity Thief is essentially a sloppy '80s character comedy with a sleeker 2013 editing and scripting sensibility," Tasha Robinson of The A.V. Club wrote, comparing it to director Seth Gordon's other miss, Horrible Bosses.

Peter Debruge of Variety called the picture's storyline "meager" while The Wrap's Alonso Duralde says the film squanders Bateman's "gifts."
